Nina I walk into the office, tossing my coat onto the back of the chair. It’s already a mess of papers and overdue work, but I can’t focus on that right now. Not with everything that’s going on. The phone rings, slicing through the silence, and I glance at the screen. Elijah’s name flashes across it. I don’t even think, just answer. “Hey, Elijah.” “Hey, you,” he says, voice smooth. “How’s your day going?” I lean back in the chair, propping my feet up on the desk. “It’s been... rough.
