Kane's POV The first roar split the night and then the treeline came alive. Dozens of glowing red eyes pierced the darkness, low snarls rolling over the earth like thunder. Then the rogues broke through, their wild bodies flooding from the shadows, claws tearing at the ground. “Shields up! Hold the line!” I barked. The warriors obeyed instantly. Rows of them locked together, metal and claws braced. The air thickened with the stench of blood and dirt even before the first impact. Then the rogues hit us like a crashing wave.
