Kane’s POV
The dungeon door burst open under my claws, iron shrieking as it slammed against the wall. The stench of rot and blood hit me first but I could barely registered it.
All I saw was her.
Ava.
Pinned against the wall, her feet dangling above the ground, her throat clamped in the Alpha’s hand.
Her face was pale, her lips parted as she fought for air. Her nails dug helplessly into his wrist, red scratches streaking across his skin. Her eyes..those eyes I thought I’d never see again, were wide with fear and pain but when they flicked to me, just for a second, I saw it. Hope.
Something inside me snapped.
A sound ripped from my chest, my claws extended fully, my wolf surging so close to the surface.
