Ava's POV The council chambers had been packed all morning with Alphas and Elders. I wasn’t allowed inside. Kane told me it wasn’t a place I will want to be, that the meeting was about strategy and borders, I will get bored and tired. So instead, I went to the training ground. The field was quiet this early, most warriors were either on border duty or called into the war room for orders. The practice dummies stood in neat rows, spears were stacked against the racks, the smell of dust and sweat clinging to the air. I picked up a wooden staff and started moving the way Kane had shown me in the first weeks. My arms burned, my legs were aching but I welcomed the pain.
