Zack’s POV
The room went quiet after I spoke, everyone looked at me but my eyes were on Ava. Her eyes were wide, like she couldn’t believe what I had just said. I was hurt when I saw her face, she looked scared and I knew I had made her feel that way before.
But that will never happen again.
“She’s still my mate,” I said louder. “You can’t take that away.”
Kane’s head snapped toward me, his eyes were filled with anger and his wolf growled deep in his chest. “You don’t get to talk about her, Zack,” he said, his voice like thunder.
I held his stare. “I just did.”
The air grew heavy, like a fight was about to break out. Ava stood frozen between us, her hands were shaking. The Elders leaned forward, watching with cold smiles, this is what they wanted. They wanted us to turn against each
