Anne A lot happened quickly. My best friend found herself pregnant from a guy she hardly knew. The two of them working things out and giving things a go. So far, I have to admit the two of them were cute together. I was honestly kind of jealous of what they had, yet very happy for my best friend. With all the changes in her life, she ended up moving out of our place, leaving me to live on my own for the first time in my life. It was strange and not something I really cared for. It didn't take me long after she moved out to adopt a cat to have someone there when I got home. I wasn't really an animal person or thought I would ever have a pet. But I found having my little girl Patches comforting. And then there was the most significant change of all for me, graduation. I finished my degree a month after Lexie had her baby. With my graduation, I was thrust into the world of accounting. Coming out of school, I already had a job lined up. The only problem with the job was I would have to travel at least once a month. Thankfully, it wasn't far away, but it would mean being out of town a day or two at a time. I didn't mind traveling and didn't complain about renting a hotel room for a night or two. But when Iron found out Lexie's best friend was renting a room in his hometown, he nearly had a heart attack. He insisted I stay at his friend's house for now when I was in town. His friend wasn't using his house currently and wouldn't be for a few years. I knew the house. I had gone with Lexie once or twice over the last year to help her dust and check up on the place for Iron and his friend. And after Iron refused to take no for an answer and giving me a key to the place, I reluctantly agreed. With the understanding that while I was there, I would take care of the place and save both of them a trip to check up on the place. Not going to lie the first couple of times I stayed over, it was a bit strange. For one, I never met this friend of Iron's, and I have met a good number over the last year. I know the guy was serving time in prison for killing the chick that had broken into Iron's place while Lexie was visiting Iron's once. Lexie had called the guy Snoopy and that she had gotten her son's middle name from the guy. Other than that, I didn't know much about him. And being in the house didn't really give much information to the guy. He didn't keep a lot of things around the house. He had everything you needed to survive, but there wasn't really a lot regarding personal positions. The only major thing was the guy's motorcycle, which was stored in the garage under a cover. That was it, nothing that really said who he was. Over the next couple of years, my staying over at the house got easier. I didn't change anything about the place. Other than keeping a couple of things on hand that I used and liked, I didn't have to take them back and forth. Like I kept items in the bathroom that I used, meaning I only needed to carry a small makeup bag with what I would use for the day or two I was there. This went in the small bag I carried with the clothes I would need while I was there. Other than that, I kept a couple of bottles of wine that I liked and a wine glass to drink from. Any food I eat while there I ordered out. I was never there long enough to stock the fridge with food. It would end up going bad before I got to it anyway. As I agreed to every trip to the house, I made sure the place stayed clean. I also made sure everything was running smoothly, letting Iron know if anything needed fixing. So far, only once did I find anything wrong with the place, and that was a pipe leaking. Iron made sure someone came over right away to fix it before any damage occurred to the place. The outside of the place was kept up by Iron and one of the other MC members. Honestly, the place was looked after pretty well, and whoever this Snoppy was should be grateful. Not everyone would have a friend that took such good care of their friend's place for so long. I knew my time using the house was coming to an end. Iron wasn't completely sure when his friend was getting released but had promised to let me know when he found out. So, with my current trip to the house, I planned to clear my things out just in case. I didn't want to have Snoopy come back to his home and have my things in the way. I would go back to renting a room anytime I needed to. That didn't bother me. I had been perfectly fine with doing it that way, to begin with. Making sure Patches had food, water, and a clean litter box that would keep her until I got back in two days, I headed out. My day was going to be busy. I should have left the night before so I didn't have to drive a couple of hours the same day I had a meeting with the owners of the company. But I didn't and was now leaving early in the morning and hoping nothing slowed me down from getting to the office of the company I worked for. Thankfully, nothing did. I made it to the office with just enough time to stop in the restroom to clear my bladder and touch up my makeup before going in for my meeting.
