“You should go home, Anders,” Helga tells him yet again. “It’s dark now.” “No,” he tells her, still holding me tightly. “I told you, you’re going to have to remove me because I’m not leaving her.” “Fine,” she says, throwing her hands up in frustration. “I hope someone comes to give birth and you get to watch.” He pales a little at the thought and looks down at me, but he doesn’t move. “I’ll be fine,” I tell him softly. “Helga is here.” He glances over at her and then turns his attention back to me. “She’s worried you could bleed too much and die,” he tells me, pushing my hair from my face. “I don’t want to leave you.
