‘You’re taking me away?’ I ask faintly, staring up at the soldier as he grins down at me, ‘like, on a trip?’
Mark nods and my heart lurches, he’s taking me on a weekend away, no-one has ever done that before. Davis would have never even considered whisking me away on a surprise weekend trip, in the whole time we were married, we never once stayed overnight anywhere.
‘Callan and Kenzie are loaning us their cabin’ Mark tells me, ‘we all thought that, with everything going on, maybe a few days away from everyone might be good.’
