BRIAR’S POV — "She what?" I ask, pushing for more. 'Why do you even care?' Cora growled, her judgement pushing at the back of my head, forming a heavy weight, causing a split second of a headache. The truth was, I didn't know why I cared. I didn't know why I even thought to think about the things I did...about what she could have done, and still be doing. He said that she wasn't his wife, that she was nothing to him, and yet...the look in his eyes said otherwise. It said that she was the darkness in his heart. 'Or maybe he's the darkness in hers.'
