CAROLINE'S POV -- The flames lick at the hearth's stone as I sit on the armchair, feet curled underneath me, my knees pressed against the armrests. Clara has yet to come forth with her truth, even though I've been clawing at her mental wall for the last half hour. My eyelids are heavy, my chest aching under the weight of sleep, trying to drag me down. Calaris is quiet, and when I finally manage to get to my room, I barely peel my leather pants off before falling into bed, curling underneath the cool, crisp blanket while my feet turn number by the second. I drift off to sleep with chattering teeth. Darkness surrounds me, draping me in a blanket of shadows, and the only light is the Moon wrapped around it's own shadows.
