CAROLINE'S POV -- The wind howls outside, the trees and bushes shaking violently. I stare out of the window of the empty living room on the communal floor, the crackling of fire behind me. The harsh winds and the cool air at night are the first signs of winter. The house is eerily quiet, and most are resting for tomorrow's tracking assignment. Professor Alonzo said it would take all day, but that's not what's keeping me awake. It's the tightness in my chest about tomorrow. It's the people I'm partnered up with that have me restless. The tracking assignment is to see how ready we are, where we might need improvement before the big tests.
