-MIA- It was early morning. The kettle hadn’t even started to hiss when I felt the warm moisture sliding between my thighs. "Did I pee on myself?" I looked down. Water dripped from my legs and splashed onto my slippers. "s**t. My water broke," I muttered. The kitchen was quiet. It was still dark outside. Asher was asleep upstairs. Sleep’s been a joke lately. The belly, the burn, the ache... No position works. And of course, the baby kicks like he’s auditioning for the World Cup at 3 a.m. I’d given up and come downstairs, hoping tea might help me relax. But now—now I was going into labor. Not part of the plan. The baby was supposed to arrive next week. A c-section was scheduled. He’s breech, and despite my doctor’s efforts, he wouldn’t budge. Stubborn baby. Everything was set up.
