“Did Matlock talk to you before he left?” Rei asked me in the morning during breakfast. We were sitting together with some other pack members in the kitchen and enjoyed the food made by Tamara and Lily. “Yes, he did,” I replied to her. I knew what he would answer me so when he apologized and asked to stay in his current place, I was not surprised at all. “And?” She wanted to know. “He would not join us.
