LIORA’S POV I tried not to feel disappointed. Darren had important work to do. The northern territories needed him. The pack needed him. It made sense that he would stay to finish the negotiations properly. But it still hurts. I returned through the corridors, my footsteps heavy. As I passed Elora’s wing again, I saw her leaving her chambers, flanked by maids carrying packages. She looked radiant, her face glowing with anticipation.
