As we rounded the marquee it was clear that a whole lot of guests had moved from the dance floor and into the pack house. Alex stopped abruptly causing me to walk into him. “Ouch!” “Sorry,” he said without looking back. He was examining the crowd in front of us who were sipping and handing around wine bottles while laughing and talking at the top of their voices. The party was clearly still in full swing. “What’s wrong?” I asked looking in the direction he was scanning. “Dammit, we can’t go in this way. Everyone’s going to stop me and try get me to join them for a drink. Plus…” he said turning to eye me up and down. “This outfit may be worse than the dress.” I giggled in response. I was still buzzing from the elixir, not quite as much as earlier but enough to still feel free and happy, and craving to get him alone. I was desperate to be alone with him, to feel all this but against his body. Alex looked at me as though he could read my thoughts. A hunger crossed his eyes before he grabbed my hands and we walked, well almost ran, to the front of the house.  There were only a few people near the front of the house, others who were also hoping for a quiet moment alone.  We ran up the stairs and straight into Adam and Ally who were making out against the sculpture. We stopped in our tracks and looked at them and they stopped and looked at us. As if everyone’s dishevelled state said it all we all burst into laughter. Adam had a bottle in his hand and headed over to force Alex to have a sip. “No, no, I don’t want,” Alex said trying to push Adam away. But Adam wasn’t having it. “C’mon, have a drink with us. The night isn’t over yet! You can’t just run away! Just have one and I’ll let you two go.” Alex tried his best to back away. It was hilarious watching him squirm, for someone who is always so composed, him and Adam were acting like kids. I caught Ally’s eye and could see she had the same thought. We just giggled while Alex and Adam wrestled in front of us. “Alpha, it would be my honour if you had this drink,” Adam said through gritted teeth, wrestling Alex to the ground. “Yes, ok, ok. ONE drink,” Alex eventually said pushing Adam off of him. “One.” He looked over at my apologetically, but also a little disappointed. We almost had a clear path ahead. He took two swigs then handed it to Adam who also had two. Adam then handed it to Ally who took a swig and before she could hand it to me Alex snatched it from her hands. “No, no. Teal pretty much downed Aoife’s elixir, she’s had enough.” I just giggled which confirmed Alex’s point.  Just then a bunch of people burst into the room singing at the top of their voices. Alex quickly grabbed my hand while Ally and Adam greeted the people who entered and we raced upstairs.  Just at the top of the stairs were an older couple who had been enjoying the festivities from afar. “Alpha,” they said nodding their heads to Alex as he approached. “Mr and Mrs Garrison, have you had a good evening?” I couldn’t help but giggle at how formal and respectful he was all of a sudden. “Oh, um, this is Teal. She’s…not feeling too well so I was showing her to the guest room.” I smiled at them and they smiled back. “Go ahead Teal, I’ll come check on you in a minute.” I smiled at the couple and headed off. Once I reached his room I looked back. He stood with his arms behind his back, back up straight and was trying his hardest to seem engaged in whatever their conversation was. There was something about how respectful he was being that touched my heart.  He is so handsome. That boyish smile still sends shivers down my spine. Mr and Mrs Garrison had their backs to me but Alex could see in-between them to his bedroom doorway where I was standing. I quickly took a look around to make sure no one could see me, opened the door but took a step back into the hall so that Alex could have a view of me.  The movement caught his attention and he looked up inquisitively. I grinned and tilted my head down, looking up at him innocently. The tunic had a tie in the front that had stopped it from dropping off my shoulders. I slowly untied it with both hands before moving one hand over to the opposed shoulder and pushing the neckline down my arm. I repeated the movement on the other side and used my forearms to stop the tunic from falling down completely. His eyes darkened. He was no longer listening to a word the couple said. His lips were in a grim line and I could see his jaw tensing. I tilted my head towards the bedroom door invitingly are you coming? Before he could say anything I stepped into the room and closed the door. I let the tunic drop to the floor and stepped out of it before walking over to the glass doors on the balcony. The lights were still off in his room but the moon was bright enough to make out where everything was.  I opened the doors and closed my eyes as the gentle, cool breeze skimmed my naked body. It felt fresh and invigorating. I didn’t hear the door open, but I heard it slam shut and lock. I didn’t turn around, I simply looked over my shoulder in his direction. His eyes were glowing in the moonlight. “Took your time,” I said with a smile in my voice I couldn’t quite hide. He growled in response. “I’m quite tired from waiting, perhaps we should go to sleep?” With that he was right behind me and in one effortless swoop threw me over his shoulders. I squealed in response as he slapped my backside. Then he threw me on the bed and quickly took off his clothes before sliding up and over me, kneeing my legs apart as he did.  He kissed me and I kissed back. First it was sweet and gentle, but then we couldn’t get enough of each other. Our breathing hitched as we explored each other’s bodies with our hands. He then bent my right leg with his hand and nudged inside of me. I groaned, barely recognising my own voice. We moved together passionately. It was almost too much, but the pressure and haste was also adding to the sensation. I loved how much he wanted this. I felt his teeth graze my neck. His movements were wild and a little clumsy. Here with me he isnt the same straight faced Alpha that rules the village. He lets loose and lets go. I felt his teeth against my neck again but this time different… is he about to mark me? I don’t know what possessed me to say the words I said next. “Do it.” I whispered in his ear. He didn’t stop his movements but lifted his head to look at me. “Do it, mark me.” I whispered, staring him back into his eyes. “No, Teal. You don’t know what you are asking,” he rasped. “Do it!” I whispered louder, this time I also wrapped both legs around his waist and pulled him in deeper. It tipped him off the edge. As he released he lifted his head and I saw his teeth grow and eyes turn yellow. I don’t know what I expected but it wasn’t that. As he lowered his head to mark me I scurried backwards up the bed. Everything happened so fast and in the dim light of the night that there was barely time for either of us to register what was happening. I cried out as his teeth sunk into the side of my body under my ribcage. It burned as though boiling water had been poured down my side. I held it with both hands trying to squeeze the pain away. My whole body started to sweat. It stung so much and I was tensing too much to even breathe, or cry, or scream. I couldn’t hear what Alex was saying but I could hear the panic in his voice. I lay there unable to move, locked into the foetal position. The pain was so intense I wished I could fade into the darkness and slowly I did.
