The tires screeched as Christopher tore down the road, swerving around traffic like a man possessed. He didn’t feel the bruises on his palms from gripping the steering wheel too tight. Didn’t hear the blaring horns behind him. All he heard was her voice. Vivian’s laugh. He slammed his hand against the steering wheel with a broken sound. “Damn it, Vivian! You promised me!” “Hold on. Please, God, hold her” He skidded into the emergency entrance of Sir Thompson Memorial, the hospital doors blurring into motion as he burst through them. His body moved faster than his mind. A nurse shouted something behind the desk, but he didn’t hear her. “I need to find her,” he gasped, pushing past a gurney. “Where is she? Where the hell is she?!
