Vivian couldn’t breathe.
She couldn’t think.
She couldn’t hold it in anymore.
And then she screamed.
“WHY?!”
Her voice cracked. Her jaw locked. She slammed her fists against the floor, tears blurring her vision, the salt stinging the raw cuts on her face.
“WHY?!” she screamed again, louder, broken, breathless. “What did I do?! Please! Someone…”
She couldn’t stop shaking.
“Please don’t let me die here!” she choked out, her voice spiraling into hysteria. “I’m pregnant!”
Her hands cradled her stomach as her body rocked, sobs spilling out in choked, uneven gasps.
“I’m pregnant!” she screamed again, louder this time, her voice splintering into pieces. “Please! Somebody help me! Please don’t let my baby die with me!”
