(Olivia) The next morning, Aisha arrived, just like she’d promised, holding a big pot of soup. Her smile was bright as she stepped inside, and I felt a bit guilty. She didn’t have to come all the way here, but I was grateful for her support. Derek greeted her briefly before retreating to his laptop. He was already lost in work, but I could tell his focus wasn’t where it should be. Aisha set the pot down in the kitchen, and I helped her share the soup in bowls. The smell was comforting. We sat at the dining table, the warmth of the soup filling the air between us. “So how is work going?” I asked, trying not to worry too much about Derek. We were supposed to be working together, but so far he wasn't making me do anything. “You’re worried about the clients, aren’t you?” Aisha asked.
