(Derek) Olivia and I sat quietly in our room after the maid left. She told us that Mr. Hargrove wanted to invite us to dinner, and ever since Olivia had been nervous. She fiddled with the edge of her dress, glancing at the door, then at her hands, then back at me. I reached over, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. “Hey,” I said, my voice soft. “It’s just dinner, alright? Nothing to worry about.” She looked up at me, worry still evident in her eyes, though there was trust too. “You’re right,” She said. Though it seemed like she was trying to convince herself as much as she was agreeing with me.
