When I woke up, Olivia was already awake, sitting up in bed and looking at me with those worried eyes that I hated seeing.
She didn’t say anything at first, just watched me as I stretched and rubbed the sleep from my eyes. I knew what she was going to ask even before she opened her mouth.
“Are you going to work today?” She finally said. I shook my head and sat up, leaning back against the headboard.
“No. I’m taking the week off.” Her eyes widened.
“Derek, you can’t just take a whole week off because of me. I’m fine. I don’t need you to—” I stopped her before she could continue.
“Stop,” I said. She froze, her mouth slightly open as she stared at me.
