Carolyn’s Point of View Practice began five minutes late that day, and the coach was not happy about it. The players appeared to be spilling out of the locker room in a panic and stumbling onto the ice having taken longer than usual to get ready. The coach grumbled about how they should be able to put their equipment on in sixty seconds flat after years of playing hockey, but deep down I knew it wasn’t putting their equipment on that had taken so long in the locker room today. For as each of the players came out, their eyes first avoided mine, but every time I was looking in the other direction, I could feel them all on me.
