Like a dog with my tail between my legs, I had no choice but to head out on my search for another job. Yesterday had been such an exciting and proud day, witnessing my hockey team’s first big win of the year and toasting to many more this season. In that moment, I had felt as if I had finally found some certainty in my life. I had no idea how I had gotten so lucky this year, finding this amazing job and having this amazing team around me. Yet, then I got a cold water shock of reality when I got home. I might be an assistant on a winning hockey team, but I was still poor little Carolyn, struggling to pay her bills and just hoping that one day all of this might get easier.
