“Mom!” I shouted as the nurse and I both rushed to her side. I didn’t have time to think about the plan here, my only instinct was to help my mother. We helped her from the floor, shaking her back into consciousness. “What happened?” I asked, feeling her skin warm against mine as we tucked her back into the bed. I had no doubt her fever had already come back and she was getting worse again. “I was just trying to head to the bathroom then I got so dizzy,” she muttered, her voice weak. Another wave of guilt crashed over me and I suddenly wished I hadn’t even gone into work today. I should have been home with her hours ago, to stop this from happening.
