My body was beginning to feel sick. I don’t know when the nausea started, but it seems to have slowly crept up on me. And I was feeling weak. I was sure it was the power that Calen still hasn’t used. I know he doesn’t want to use it, for the safety of the others.
But he had no choice. It was the main reason why Elodie never gave it to anyone. Before I came back to my senses she had told me that her gift was too much of a risk, that she was just too forgiving and innocent in the way of the world.
But I wasn’t like that. Calen was my whole world. Without him by my side, I was nothing. I couldn’t live without him and he was doomed to be sent back and never return. I refused to face that reality and so willingly gave him that power with no hesitation at all.
