Chapter 02: Werewolves.
“HELP! Please!”
Heart didn’t know how long she had been running through the forest. All she knew was that she was running as fast as she could to the point that she couldn't feel her own feet.
Until she was tripped by a tree trunk. She fell to the ground. She couldn’t see well because of the tears in her eyes. Trying to crawl and hide behind a big rock, the three werewolves finally caught her.
A loud growl made her close her eyes tightly. Her heart was beating so loud, she was trembling and crying for her life.
“Help!!!”
At that moment, she thought she would die. She thought it was the end of her adventure, the end of all her extraordinary life until…
She heard a loud thud! As she opened her eyes, she saw a man standing right in front of her. The man was facing the three werewolves, he was topless and she could see his defined shoulder blades and his biceps. It was like a slow motion, the man turned his head to her with worry in his eyes. While the three werewolves run away from them.
Panting, the man sat in front of her and then held his hand which she looked at, doubting. Three werewolves chased him and only this man saved her. How could it happen?
“It’s safe now.”
His deep voice lingered into her ear, it felt like she was hypnotized by it, she took his hand. And when she finally stood up, she felt her knees wobble. She was about to fall again but the man held her waist and helped her balance herself. She was still shocked.
But what shocked her the most was when the man lowered his head and looked at her face closely. His sweaty chest pressed on to her chest and his natural musky scent lingered into her nose. It was hard not to notice his jawline, his thin pinkish lips, his nose and then his gray hooded eyes under its thick lashes and brows. He was handsome as hell only that…
“Finally, I found you…” he whispered.
She quickly stood up upon hearing those words from him.
“Found me?!” she asked, surprised. “Are you like those guys? Are you a werewolf too?”
But the man remained silent while looking at her intently. He’s weird.
“Are you going to eat me?”
However, the man sighed and then grabbed her wrist. “Let’s go back.”
“Hey, hey!” She quickly took back her hand. “You saved me but I didn’t know you, I can’t just trust you.”
“The wolves might come back,” he replied. “I’ll escort you to the entrance.”
With that, she agreed with him. Well, if he is willing to help her go back, she will.
“Alright, thank you…”
She found this man weird, however, she didn’t know why she was comfortable with him. Just like what he said, he really escorted her back to the entrance.
“Thank you so much, if it’s not because of you, those werewolves have already eaten me,” she replied. “But, do you know that they were men? They turned into werewolves right in front of my eyes!”
“Go back,” he replied.
“Aren’t you going back to? Where are you living?”
“At the hotel.”
“Then maybe we can go back together?”
He shook his head. “I still have business here.”
She nodded. “Alright… I should go now… I’m very thankful that you saved my life.”
Heart stepped back as she looked into the man. She waited for him to go back inside the forest but he stayed there… she smiled and then started walking away. She glanced back and when she saw that he was still staring at her, she continued. Maybe he wanted to see her go away?
Instead of finding a cab to bring her back to the hotel, she just walked all her way there. It was only about fifteen minutes and she arrived safely. But she was still curious about what happened inside the forest. She was so sure that those three men turned into werewolves!
“Oh God, Heart! Don’t fool us around, there’s no such thing like that!” Peter replied, shaking his head.
She sighed. “You believed in ghosts but in humans who turned werewolves, you’re not believing? I’m telling you, I saw it with my own eyes!”
“You were just hallucinating, babe,” Nix replied. “I think it was just some pig or maybe a real wolf but not humans who turned one.”
“That’s unbelievable, Heart!” Peter added.
“If you can’t believe me, I have proof! I have it on my phone!” She said proudly.
“Alright, where’s your phone then? Show it to us.”
Rolling her eyes, she took her bag and then looked for her phone. However, while trying to look for it, she couldn’t. And so she poured everything inside her bag to find her phone.
“Damn!” she cursed. “I think it fell in the forest!”
“Oh! Great, your proof isn’t valid now,” Peter laughed. “Come on, there’s no such thing like that. And if it really does have, how did you get away from them?”
“I’m not bluffing here! A man saved me,” she replied.
“A man? Just one man over three werewolves you say? He saved you?”
“Yes!”
“Now it has become more unbelievable.” Peter patted her shoulder. “We should eat and take a rest. Maybe we should just go back to the city tomorrow.”
“Hell, no!” she exclaimed. “No one is going back to the city until I filmed the Ozouf Forest and show you my proof that werewolves attacked me.”
“Alright, alright! Do whatever you want!”
Peter rolled his eyes and then went to the phone to call for hotel food. She sighed and then sat down on the bed to get all of her things back to her bag. While Nix helped her put it all back.
“Babe, I know you’re desperate, but maybe you shouldn’t go overboard.”
“I’m not overboard…” she pouted her lips. “I need my phone back. I can at least upload the video I took there.”
“Alright, we’ll go there first thing in the morning and find your phone. Just calm down, alright?”
Instead of defending herself, she just nodded. Though she wanted to explain furthermore, she thinks these two guys won’t really believe her without proof. The proof she had was just in her memory, she has to find her phone no matter what.
The next morning, Heart quickly got up from her bed as she thought of the best way to find her phone.
“Babe… where are you going?” Nix asked in a groggy voice.
“I have to find the man who helped me!” she replied.
“Wait, what?”
Nix doesn’t want to wake up yet since he was still sleepy, but after what Heart said, he was now fully awake. He sat up from the bed topless, he looked up at Heart.
“Hey, are you sure about that? Wait for me.”
“Just continue sleeping there. He said he was living in the hotel. There’s no other hotel in the Ozouf Forest but here.”
“But…”
“Just stay there, I’ll get back with our breakfast.”
Confused, Nix just let his girlfriend leave him in the bed to find another guy. Instead of stopping her, he went back to the bed to sleep more. After all, he knew how hard-headed she was. She will do everything she wants even though he tried his best to stop her.
As soon as Heart went out of their hotel room, she rushed through the elevator. She didn’t know his name, she didn’t know where he was staying but his face was marked into her memories. She has a sharp memory after all!
The elevator opened and she quickly went out to go to the lobby. All she needed to do was to explain to the receptionist how he looks exactly and dang! Of course, they will know right away. His handsome face and charisma is unique, she’s sure everyone would remember him.
“Excuse me, Miss. Can I ask?”
The receptionist smiled at her. “Sure, Miss. What is it?”
“So I was looking for someone… uh, he’s…”
She hadn't done talking when the receptionist looked up behind her, then a smile crept into her lips.
“Good morning, Alpha!”
Alpha?
Although she had nothing to do with it, she didn’t know why, but she turned her head behind her and saw who it was… Her eyes widened to see who it was.
