Chapter 01: Ozouf Forest.
“ARE you sure we are going to do this, Heart?” Peter asked while he was assembling his camera.
After ten long hours of travel, Heart and her team have finally arrived at the secluded island of Ozouf. This island trends after a gossip has spreaded that a vlogger was lost in the forest and he was never found after three months of getting lost.
“I am very much sure about this Peter. We flew here for ten hours and you think I’d back out?” she asked, rolling her eyes.
“Peter, you can’t stop her no matter what. You know that!” Nix added while he shook his head. Her boyfriend was currently unpacking his things on the table where he was planning to edit the videos and everything.
“See? Nix knows me! We’ve been together for three years now and you know that I will always do whatever I want!” she shrugged.
It has been three years since she started vlogging. She loves to travel, a lot. To the point that after she graduated in college, she didn’t apply for a regular job. Instead, she started travel vlogs while working freelance online. After a year of determination, she became famous at it and she earned a lot! Not all can become this famous. She has already invested a lot of money in this travel vlog so as much as possible, she will make it to the extreme.
“What if there’s a ghost in that forest? Or a wolf? Darn it! Either we’ll die there because of fear or we’ll die inside a wolf's stomach. You’re so brave, Heart.”
“You’re acting like a scared little girl, Peter. Oh please!”
“I’m not, I just pity my own life. Why don’t we switch from travel vlog to food vlog?” he suggested.
“You can quit if you don't want to do this. I can hire someone else,” she replied.
“Yeah, of course! Of course, we have to do this. It is Heart’s Travel, the famous travel vlog worldwide! I can’t just quit when I have the most generous income here,” Peter smiled.
Heart is his cousin. He was a freelance photographer before but when Heart offered him to become her cameraman with a generous salary, of course he agreed. But after a year of working with her, he started to doubt it. Is the generous salary he’s getting monthly worth his sacrifice everytime that they traveled to different dangerous places?
“Come on, stop slacking around! We are here now and it seems like the island is safe.”
Peter pouted his lips as he lifted up his camera. Heart is not the type of person who can wait patiently. That’s why about five hours after they arrived here, she wanted to go to the forest right away. Of course, to start filming!
After they packed the things that they needed, Heart and Peter decided to go. While Nix was left there to set up all the things that they needed once they got back.
Heart was so determined to explore the forest, while Peter was still pouting and didn't like the idea of them going into a dangerous forest where a vlogger vanished into thin air.
“It has been fifteen minutes since we waited for a cab, no one wants to drive us to the forest.”
“Come on, Peter! Of course, that forest is scary, who would want to go there.”
“That’s what I’m talking about, I think it's the heaven’s sign for us not to go there, right?”
A cab stopped in front of them and Heart rolled her eyes. The window rolled down and the driver looked outside.
“Hi, Sir! Could you take us to Ozouf Forest?” Heart asked with her eyes, looking like a cute puppy.
“Aren’t you scared of that place? There are lots of people who have been lost there and have never been found.”
“So you won’t take us there?” From her puppy eyes, Heart raised her brow.
“I can take you there, Miss. But of course, you have to double the payment!”
“I will! Just take us there!” Heart shrieked.
“Alright, hop in, Miss and Sir!” The driver smiled.
“Darn it,” Peter murmured.
“Are you saying something, Peter?” she asked.
“Nothing!”
They hopped inside of the cab and then the driver drove to the Ozouf Forest. All they thought was that it’ll take a longer drive because no one wanted to drive them there, however, they were surprised when it only took ten minutes!
“$250.”
“What?!” Heart asked in too much surprise. “$250 for a ten minute ride?!”
“Just be grateful that I drive you here even though this forest is dangerous,” he replied. “Pay or I’ll call the police?”
“Fine!” Heart rolled her eyes and then took out her wallet to get her card.
After the driver swiped her card, they let them get out of the cab but he didn’t even help them out. He just drove away without a blink!
“Darn that cab driver, I can’t believe I paid that much for a ten-minute drive!”
“I told you!” Peter replied.
“Come on, we’re here now. It’s still 2:00 in the afternoon, there’s nothing to be worried about.”
“Alright, alright!”
Peter turned on the camera and then focused it on Heart. As soon as Heart smiled in front of the camera, she smiled widely.
“Hi guys! Guess where I am now? I’m here in the mysterious forest of Ozouf!” she waved at the camera.
As they continued on walking inside the forest, Heart was talking and explaining what was happening. It was hard to walk in the forest, the grass was tall and wet, and there were lots of trees.
“s**t!” Peter cursed.
“What the heck, Peter! We’re filming!” Heart shouted.
“The camera went blank!” he replied, then tried to open it. But it will just turn on and off.
“Let me see!”
Heart took the camera. The battery was full but it’s acting up!
“What the heck, we’re already in the middle of the forest!” she replied. “I can’t afford to go back there.”
“Should I go back alone?” Peter asked, raising his brow.
“Of course!”
“You sure you didn’t want to come back with me? What if the ghost came here?” he asked.
“There’s no ghost, for goodness sake! That was just in your imagination.”
“Alright, just call me right away if something happens.”
“Yeah, yeah! Whatever! I’ll film using my phone.”
“Alright.”
Peter started to walk back to the entrance of the forest while Heart stayed there and waited. It’s still 2:20 in the afternoon and she wasn't the kind of woman who got scared easily. That’s why when she heard something behind the tall grasses, she ignored it and continued filming…
“Unfortunately, our camera acted up. My cameraman has to go back to the hotel to get our old camera. So, I was just using my phone. It’s creepy here but I can't afford going back so we decided that I should just wait here—” She stopped. “I heard something, wait.”
She walked towards where she was hearing something until three tall men came out of nowhere.
“Hey…” she said, then quickly turned off the camera. “Who are you guys? I mean, sorry, are you like tourists here too?”
The three men looked at each other before they glanced back at her. She wasn't nervous, it’s normal for her to meet people… however…
As their eyes flickered from black to yellow, and yellow to black, she stepped back.
“What’s with your eyes?!” she asked. Her heart started to pound.
But no one of them replied. They remained silent as they licked their lips slowly.
“I’ll eat her tongue.”
“Mine’s her heart.”
“I’ll be in charge of what's between her legs.”
“W-what are you talking about?!” she shouted.
“Keep quiet, the Alpha might hear us.”
Right then, the three men turned into werewolves! Which made her eyes widened. She wasn’t the type of person who easily got scared but this time, it was really scary! She stepped back, her body trembled and felt cold as she saw the scariest thing she has ever met in her entire life.
“P-peter?!” she shouted. “Oh God! Help!”
The next thing she knew, she was running for her life while shouting for help and someone she didn't expect came.
