Chapter 04: A Memory.

HEART stepped back. As she looked up at Rave, she swallowed. His intimidating stare makes her heart pound faster. While looking into his eyes, she couldn’t deny the fact that he’s handsome but there’s more to his attractive face. There’s an unknown attraction that she couldn’t figure out.
And when he lowered his head to level his face to her, he smirked. “You’re a vlogger, remember?”
She blinked. “What?”
“You said you’re a vlogger. I’ve seen you on social media, you’re popular,” he replied.
She cleared and swallowed the lump on her throat as she nodded while looking into his eyes. Her mind was telling her to step back, push him and stop him however she wasn’t able to move a bit. It was Rave who moved back.
“Let’s find your phone,” he said coldly.
When he finally let go of her, she took a sharp exhale. She wasn’t aware that she held her breath! Dang! She had met a lot of handsome guys before, Nix was handsome too! So why does she feel like this towards him?
They continued sweeping off the forest just to find her phone; however, after an hour of looking around, they didn’t find anything! Well, she doesn’t really care about that phone, she can buy a new one because she can. The only thing she wanted about that phone was the video that she took. But now that she was able to film the forest secretly, it doesn't matter to her whether she finds the phone or not.
“I think we should go home now,” Heart said.
Then she looked up at Rave. He stood up straight then glanced at her. “Are you sure?”
“Yeah, my boyfriend is waiting for me at the hotel. I'm sure he’s awake. I’m famished too,” I shrugged.
“You have a boyfriend?” he pursed his lips. His face looked like he was completely surprised.
“Hmm, yeah? Why did you ask?” she asked curiously.
“Nothing,” he stoically replied. “I thought that phone was important to you.”
“We’ve already searched where I walked through yesterday but we didn't find anything. I’ll just buy a new one.”
He shook his head. “You wasted my time.”
“I can pay you, don’t worry! How much do you want?”
“I don’t need your money.”
“Oh crap! I remember you’re a hotel owner and I'm sure you're rich as hell!” she chuckled. “So what do you want in return for the time that you wasted on me?
“You can pay me with something else,” he suggested.
She raised her brow as she thought of what he was saying…until she realized what it was!
Heart narrowed her eyes. “What the heck? I’m not that kind of woman! I didn't know that you're that kind of man!” she protested. Then tried to cover her body and stepped back.
“You have such a dirty mind,” he shook his head. “What do you think of me?”
“Then what do you want in return?!”
“You'll stay here for how long?”
“Five more days…” she replied.
“Bring me with you while you’re filming,” he confirmed. “Let’s go back to the hotel.”
After that, he started walking. As she realized what he just said, he quickly followed him. What does he mean by that?
“Hey, why do you want to be there while I’m filming?” she asked.
“For promotion,” he simply replied.
“Promotion?”
“Once you filmed my hotel, I will get an extra promotion.”
She shook her head and then tried to follow his pace. He wasn’t running but because he has long legs, his walk was faster than her short legs!
“You’re such a wise man, huh?” she chuckled. “Free promotion? Alright! Deal!”
He didn’t talk again, they continued walking back to the entrance but when they arrived, the car wasn’t there anymore!
“Where’s your car?” she asked and then looked around.
“They went back to the hotel, maybe. Let’s walk instead.”
“Darn, can we call a cab?”
“It’s just a fifteen minute walk.”
“But I’m famished!”
“Endure that.”
She rolled her eyes as they continued walking their way back to the hotel. This guy, she couldn’t read what’s on his mind. One moment he’s mad, one moment he’s kind and then here’s the cold Rave again. He’s like a grumpy old man who was lonely from his long life. Looking at him, he looked like in his early 30's, he didn't look old enough to be this grumpy.
“I’m glad that we didn't encounter a werewolf…” she mumbled. “Do you really not know something about those werewolves? I mean, it’s strange that they suddenly runaway when you came…”
But instead of an answer, Rave remained silent. So he doesn't want to talk about it…
“Did they eat the vlogger who came here and vanished without a trace?” she added.
Still, no answer from him. She rolled her eyes and then roamed her eyes around the beach. Now that she was with Rave, she discovered the scenery of this beach. Her only reason why she came to Ozouf Island was to vlog but now, she didn't even realize how beautiful it was while she was here yesterday.
She stopped walking, put her hand above her forehead to avoid the sunlight and tried to appreciate the view. The coral blue color of the sea calms the shore. Mindlessly, she walked towards the sea to touch the cold water on her feet.
“Hey!”
When her feet were about to touch the water, Rave grabbed her hand and she looked up at him.
She smiled, “I didn’t realize how beautiful it was.”
Rave looked up at the sea and she saw how pain struck his eyes. She didn’t know why, but she felt his pain as well. It was as if he was sharing the same pain he was feeling.
“Do you have a painful past on this beach?” she curiously asked.
Licking his lips, his eyes looked down at her and he swallowed.
“It was once a beautiful memory, but as days pass by, it's starting to become painful.”
Her heart clenched upon hearing those painful words, he said that as if he was reminiscing the scene.
“I’m sorry,” she murmured.
His eyes welled up in tears but before it rolled down his cheeks, he quickly moved away and brushed it off.
“We have to go back.”
Rave started walking again while she stood there, watching his back as he moved away. And a flash of memory suddenly popped up in her mind. Same scene, same spot, same man but what made it heartbreaking was when the man turned his head and smiled.
“Let’s go!” Rave shouted.
