CHAPTER 3 She was dreaming… it was just a dream. Just a dream. Her heart aches. Amara could hear the voices around her. They seemed to be panicking. She felt that various devices were being attached to her. Where am I? She felt too weak to complain about the pain they were causing her. Amara tried to open her eyes. but she failed. She tried several times but, as before, she failed. Amara also tried to move her finger but she couldn't do it. She felt paralyzed. Amara was annoyed, she didn't like how she felt right now. She is not comfortable. Amara tried everything but no luck. She wanted to let loose at that time. Dad. Mom. Amori. Where is her family? Are they safe? Is this alive? Amara remembered her family. She remembered what happened at her café. Is it all just a dream? Amara is praying that everything that happened was just a dream. She was hoping that her family was just in a good condition. Her family couldn't die. How about her? She won't accept that. No. Not everything that is happening to her is true. Where are her Mom and Dad? Why aren't they visiting her? Why is she here? Why can't she move his body? Why can't she open her eyes? Why can't he speak? Amara is having a panic attack right now. She wanted to move, speak, and open her eyes. But she can't do it, and she hates it. Amara heard the loud sound of the machine along with the trembling of her entire body. The people around her became even more chaotic. What’s happening to me? Oh, God, please help me… “Call Dr. Velasquez now! Go!” She heard one of them shout. Amara doesn't know what's happening to her. She felt something being inserted into her, and they even tried to put something on her chest. He hears a doctor instructing his companions to inject him with medicine, but he doesn't know what it's for. A few minutes passed, and Amara felt her body gradually calming down along with the loss of her consciousness. Amara slowly opened her eyes. It took her a minute to adjust her eyesight to the light. When she adjusted, only the ceiling of the room greeted her. She instantly roamed her eyes around. She was in a room, a big room. It has white walls. The smell of the antiseptic smell lingered on her nose. Big machines that are connected to her body. Hospital. Who brought her to the hospital? The person who helped her? She scanned her surroundings to find the person who helped her, but she saw no one. How about her family? Where is my Mom, Dad, and Amori? Where are they? They should be here. These should be beside her. When Amara moved, her wound hurt. Damn it hurts like freaking hell. Amara wants to stand up and find her family. She wants to make sure that her parents are okay and safe. She knew that the police and ambulance had arrived to save them. She knew because before she lost consciousness, she heard them arrive at the scene. She was praying hard that these people had saved Dad, Mom, and Amori. She was praying hard that her family was still alive. Because she wouldn't be able to handle it without her family. She’s weak and in pain. But she still tries to be strong… Amara tried to speak but couldn't open her mouth because of the device placed there. She tried to look for or ask for help, but there was no one else in the room except her. When she saw that there was no one else in her room or even a nurse passing by, she took the initiative to remove what was in her mouth herself. Amara almost gagged when she removed the device. When Amara was able to breathe properly, she sat on the bed. She endured the pain of her wound. Amara removed her dextrose and got off the bed, holding her aching stomach. Even though Amara was struggling, she forced herself. She slowly made her way to the door of the room and stepped out. Several times, Amara stopped because of the pain she was feeling. Her stomach, arms, thighs, and shoulders hurt. “Okay ka lang ba, Miss?” A question from the old man who passed by and saw him. Amara nodded at smiled. “I’m fine. Where is the nurse's desk?" "The nurse's desk is over there." The old man pointed the way to her. She thanked her before heading there. Amara stopped walking several times before she reached the nurse's desk. "Excuse me, Nurse..." She called out to the nurse. The nurse looked at her and smiled. "Yes, Ma’am. What is it? Do you need anything, Ma’am? "she asked her. "What is Amori Castellano's room number?" she asked. "What is your relationship with Miss Amori?" The nurse asked her. “She’s my sister.” The nurse nodded at her. "Give me a few minutes to check the system." She let the nurse search for her sister's records. Amara had a bad feeling when she saw the nurse frown. "I'm sorry, Miss, but there is no room registered under Miss Amori Castellano's name. But I’m not sure if…" "What is it?" she interrupted the nurse's words. "There are no Amori Castellanos in the system, but there is Amori Drian Castellano." "That's her. That's my sister. Where is her room? "She quickly asked the nurse. "I'm sorry, Miss Castellano, but your sister is not in the room, she is in the morgue." It seemed like Amara's knees weakened at what she heard. Her tears began to flow little by little. Amara clutched her chest as if her heart was being stabbed. "No, that's not true. My sister is still alive," she said to the nurse while shaking her head repeatedly. "Check again, maybe you're mistaken." “I’m really sorry, Miss Castellano, but your sister is really dead.” The nurse said to him with a sad tone. She hates how the nurse looks at her with pity. She doesn't need sympathy, she needs her family. Angrily, Amara wiped the tears from her cheek. “How about my mother and father? Check their names. They're Adrianne Castellano and Daryl Castellano.” Please, God, I beg you… She begged God that her Mom and Dad, or at least one of her parents, had survived. "The bodies of Mrs. Adrianne Castellano and Daryl Castellano are also in the morgue," the nurse said sadly to Amara. Amara completely fell to the floor. It was as if her whole body had gone numb. She cried in pain. Her whole body went cold, and it felt like her world had completely shattered. Amara shouted in pain and held her chest. "Aahhhhhh!!!" It hurts. The pain he feels is so intense, it's like she's being killed. "Miss Castellano," the nurse attended to her. Amara pounded her chest, hoping to relieve the pain she was feeling. She can't accept that her parents and sister are gone. She can't handle being without them. Amara needs her family. Why did they leave me? I wish they had just taken me with them if they were going to leave me all alone anyway. The nurse is trying to calm Amara, but she can't. She feels too much pain and can't hold back her tears. "Why, God? Why is this happening to us? What have I done wrong to you to take them away? I wish it was me! I wish you had just taken me!" Amara shouted loudly. Amara cried so hard. She remembered the happy memories of her parents and sister. "Just calm down, Miss Amara." Nurse, help her. Some nurses arrived to help her stand up. Amara shrugged off those hands trying to help her. "Arghhh!" She stood up and pushed aside the things near him. "Why? Why do they have to die? They should be enjoying their lives. Please, God, bring my family back to me. I am begging you." She begged so hard. How is she doing now that she no longer has a family? How will she survive now that she is all alone? "Call, Dr. Velasquez, now!" A nurse said as she couldn't stop him from going berserk. "Please, calm down..." Amara can't do it. The world is so unfair to her. The world is so unfair to her family. They took them away in a brutal way. Her world shattered the day her family was brutally killed. The smile, laughter, and happiness were replaced by grief. Grief that she doesn't know if she can overcome. Her family left her clinging to life. She won’t survive this brutal world alone. She wanted to see her Mom and Dad. She wanted to see her sister smile. "I want to see them." Her voice trembled. "Please, let me see my family." The nurse nodded at her and accompanied her to the Morgue. She was seated in the wheelchair and pushed there. As they got closer and closer, Amara's chest tightened even more. It seemed like Amara's breath stopped when they entered the Morgue. She saw three bodies covered with cloth. She stood up slowly and approached. Her hand trembled as she slowly removed the cloth. "Mom..." she tightened her grip on the fabric. “Mom, Dad, Amori, I’m sorry. I'm sorry." She kept saying repeatedly. He also saw Dad and Amori. They were lifeless. Amara feels empty seeing what has become of her family. She can feel her sanity slipping away.
