CHAPTER 6

AFTER THE WAR, the aftermath was visible. The ground was tainted with the blood of the people who had died in the war. Droplets of blood can be seen on the grass. The war had caused many deaths, and those who died were buried in the Celestial Mountains. The Celestial Mountain was a sacred place where all the Celestials who died in a war would be buried. After worshiping the dead, they went back to their own tribe. “Alpha King, should we go back now?” Soren asked. Ezequiel shakes his head. “Take my brother with you. I have something to do first.” Soren bowed his head. Ezequiel looked for Dimitri and saw him at the back of the Celestial Mountain. Dimitri was catching his breath as if he had run for miles. The Demon King looked weak, and an ordinary Celestial could kill him anytime. Dimitri had lost all his powers, but no one knew about it except for Ezequiel. He hasn’t recovered yet from his old injury, a hundred years ago, and yet he used his powers again to kill the Blackguards of the Dark Lord. Sighing, Ezequiel walked toward Dimitri. “What are you doing here alone?” Ezequiel asked. Though he asked the obvious question. Dimitri was hiding from everyone because he didn’t want others to know about his condition. Dimitri has been like this since childhood. He likes to keep everything to himself. However, he couldn’t blame Dimitri because they were the same. Dimitri looked at Ezequiel. “I thought you would have left. Everyone had already left.” “I’m not everyone,” Ezequiel answered and sat beside Dimitri. “What are you planning to do?” he asked. “I’ve asked Amir to take care of the Aetheria Palace for me.” Ezequiel frowned. “Are you going to disappear again?” he asked, his voice laced with threat. “Do I look like I can still disappear in my state right now?” Dimitri asked in an exhausted voice, and even in his weak state, he still managed to laugh at Ezequiel. Ezequiel forced a smile and became serious. He took Dimitri’s wrist and felt his pulse. “Your energy has already been depleted. If you were only an ordinary demon, you might have died after you exhausted all your power on the day of the war.” “I’ll take that as a compliment, Alpha King.” Ezequiel snorted. “What are you going to do now?” he asked. “I don’t know. After all, I’m already dying. I have used all my powers, and I can feel that my health is deteriorating.” “I know. I felt your pulse, but I won’t let you die.” Ezequiel put his hand on Dimitri’s back, chanted a spell, and transferred half of his power to Dimitri. “What are you doing, Ezequiel?” Dimitri asked in worry as he tried to stop Ezequiel, but Ezequiel didn’t let him. “What do you think, Demon King?” Ezequiel asked to retaliate. “You’re giving me half of your power to save my life. Ezequiel, you have your people waiting for you,” Dimitri scolded Ezequiel. He didn’t know what kind of air had gotten into Ezequiel’s head that would give him his power. The corner of Ezequiel’s lips rose. “Why do you think I didn’t use my power in the war? Dimitri, we are childhood friends. Before we became rulers of our respective regions, we grew up together. I know your character. It’s just a pity that you failed to know my character.” “Ezequiel—” Dimitri tried to stop Ezequiel, but his friend was determined to save his life. “Ezequiel, you just don’t have your people waiting for you. You found your mate, right? Then save your power and go to her. You need your power when you face the Elders of the Werewolf Race—” “Shut up, Dimitri,” said Ezequiel in a firm voice. Dimitri could only sigh. He can feel the determination in Ezequiel, so he lets him transfer some of his power to him. After Ezequiel transferred half of his power to Dimitri, he withdrew his hand from Dimitri’s back. “Use it to cultivate again. But to cultivate your demon power, you must stay in the Celestial Sea.” Dimitri nodded. “I know.” “But I know your character. You’re stubborn, Demon King,” Ezequiel said and grinned. “Since you have asked Amir to protect the Aetheria Palace and the Southern Region for you, you might have to sleep for a long time,” he said, and a sly smile appeared on his lips. Dimitri lost the expression on his face. “What do you mean? What are you going to do?” he was instantly in defense mode against Ezequiel. Ezequiel smiled innocently. “What do you think, Demon King?” Dimitri quickly walked away from Ezequiel. “I’m warning you, don’t do anything—” his words were cut off when Ezequiel appeared behind him. “Demon King, I’m sorry, but I have to do this. In the future, you must thank me,” Ezequiel said as he knocked out the Demon King. Dimitri fell on Ezequiel. Ezequiel put Dimitri’s arms over his shoulders. They disappeared from the Celestial Mountain, and they appeared in the Celestial Sea. The Celestial Sea was calm with the gentle moves of the waves. Ezequiel lay Dimitri down on the flat stone. It was a big flat stone in the center of the Celestial Sea. He chanted a spell that Queen Aella had taught him. A glass coffin appeared before him, and he put Dimitri to lie down inside. He wonders what Dimitri’s reaction would be if Dimitri woke up inside the glass coffin. And he was already laughing, thinking of Dimitri’s reaction in the future. He touches the water, and after a few minutes, two mermen appear. The mermaids are peacefully living in the Celestial Sea and don’t get involved in the outside world. But they were willing to help anyone who needed their help. “Alpha King.” The two mermen greeted him and bowed their heads. Ezequiel nodded his head politely. “I have a friend here who needs to rest in your sacred place. I may have to trouble you to take care of him.” “The Demon King?” Ezequiel nodded. “I am a friend of your Merman King, so I might have trouble with him taking care of my friend here,” he pointed to Dimitri lying inside the covered glass coffin. “We will do our best to take care of the Demon King, Alpha King.” Ezequiel pushed the glass coffin into the water. The glass coffin sank as the two mermen took it away. Ezequiel sighed and left the Celestial Sea. As he appeared on the shore, he suddenly lost his balance and fell on his knees. “Damn…” he cussed. He lost half of his power because he transferred it to Dimitri. But he didn’t regret it. He needed to rest to recover, but didn’t have time for that. Ezequiel needed to go back to the Human Race to look for Jazmin. He was worried about her. He took out the necklace and stared at it. “Jazmin, I’m coming to find you.” Ezequiel crossed the border between the Human Race and the Celestial Continent. As soon as he arrived at the Human Race, he went to look for Jazmin. Unbeknownst to Ezequiel, someone had followed him to the Human Race. Ezequiel was exhausted and hadn’t recovered yet from the injuries he had sustained from the battle, but he didn’t waste his time and looked for Jazmin. He had been looking for her for many days but hadn’t found her. It was like he was looking for a needle in a haystack. He wanted to find Jazmin before he lost all his energy. He could feel that his body was weakening and his power too. Ezequiel was using his power to look for Jazmin, and it was already consuming him. “Jazmin, where are you?” He was standing on the rooftop of the tallest building in the city, where he was of the Human Race. He couldn’t track Jazmin’s scent as if she had disappeared in this world. “I didn’t expect that the ruler of the Eastern Continent would come to the Human Realm and use his power to look for someone.” Ezequiel didn’t look behind him. “What are you doing here, Vampire King?” Theo smiled and stood beside Ezequiel. “I saw you crossing the border between the two dimensions. I was curious, so I followed you. I just didn’t expect that you were here to look for someone. Who are you looking for?’ “My mate,” Ezequiel answered. He didn’t deny it. Theo was surprised. “Your mate? A human?” “Wasn’t it obvious? I came to the Human Realm to look for her.” No wonder the Alpha King looked different at the meeting in the Aetheria Palace. It turns out that he has found his mate. But… Theo looked at the Alpha King. The Alpha King seemed to be weak now. He was certain that when he used his force to push Ezequiel, Ezequiel would not be able to dodge it. What is happening right now? Ezequiel closed his eyes when he felt dizzy. “Are you okay?” Theo asked. But he could see that the Alpha King was not fine. Ezequiel held onto the handrails of the rooftop. “I’m fine,” he said in a weak voice. Theo sighed. “You don’t look good, and yet you say you’re fine—” he suddenly caught Ezequiel when he fell. “Alpha King?” “Ezequiel?” But when Theo looked at the Alpha King, he was already unconscious. Theo held the Alpha King’s wrist. His eyes widened, and he looked at the Alpha King in disbelief. “Are you going to kill yourself before you find your beloved?!” he scolded, though Ezequiel couldn’t hear and answer him because he had passed out. Theo let out a breath and took Ezequiel back to the Eastern Region.
