I don't know why but the more that he said, the more my body relaxed. It was like it was recognizing it's potential. "A female siren that would appear once in a few centuries who has the strength of five sirens together at her fully awakened state and the only being that could devour the siren's flesh. Having the potential of unimaginable feats. They couldn't find a more fitting name for her other than the dangerous woman. A femme fatale. And as ironically as it is, the French people who might have encountered couldn't even explain what they had come across. The being that even the nature tries to destroy," he took another step forward, standing just a foot apart from me. The things he said, surely did sound like some monster from the myths that couldn't be easily defeated. It was indeed scary, for them. "If I am so dangerous, then why are you telling me all of this? Furthermore, standing so close to me right here," I felt his body be slightly stiff, but he didn't portray it as I continued in surprisingly relaxed voice, "aren't you scared, that I might end up being lethal to you, as you mentioned?" He looked at me strangely before he said, "you can try if you want. I'll give you that leverage." I looked at him a little surprised that he was asking me to try killing him. Not that I wanted to try anything but with all the new information that he had provided, I at least wanted to know the extent of my abilities. And the only place I could test them out without having the fear or guilt of hurting a normal human who might not be able to tolerate it. I looked at their father who was giving me a raised eyebrow in a challenge. It all happened so fast that it shocked even me. My body moved at an angle, raising my hand sharply while not moving any other part of my rest of the body. It looked like a glitch even to me at the speed it moved. But the old man grabbed my arm before it could make an impact to his face. The reactions of guys around me was slowed, they moved after the deed was almost done. Most of them had their powers were ready at the end of their fingertips. "Stop, boys!" the old man shouted stopping them from attacking and immediately the halted in their places. "It's alright, the femme fatale is not that much of a risk yet," he added in a loud voice. "And why is that?" I asked curiously as he release my wrist and folded his hands behind his back as he turned around and walked back to the seat which was surrounded by women. He sat on it and let the ladies trail their fingers over his body, "with your current self, the most you can do to us is hurt, not kill. Your body is yet to adjust to the newly found powers that are slowly unlocking. When you released your aura earlier, that was the first time your body recognized its potential." "So, you are saying my powers will develop as the time goes on?" "Yes, that is what I am saying, only if," he paused there to look at me again seriously, "only if the nature doesn't kill you first. You will be subjected to a lot of accidents and unexpected events where survival will be tricky. I suppose, you might have witnessed it firsthand already if you have had any siblings?" My blood went cold when he mentioned my family. I was the only surviving child of my parents. The only one that had come back from death which other siblings of mine weren't very lucky to be. "You mean, my other siblings were also femme fatale?" I asked with my heart racing once again. "It is possible, the combination of your parentage was the reason of you being what you are. So, it is possible that your other siblings, if girls being a femme fatale and in case of boys being something completely out of our expectations," the old man stapled his fingers together as he said thoughtfully. "Father, what is the combination of her parentage are you talking about?" Vann asked with a frown. "Both of her parents have a siren gene. Possibly her father is the male offspring of a halfling while her mother is the third generation halfling with a halfling mother and a siren father," the old man shrugged. "But aren't halflings protected from the curse of the first borns?" West asked skeptically. "That they are, in case the siren wants to kill them. In case of only mating, it's not much of shield there. Also, the shield could have been broken when her grandmother face a near death event," their father answered the possibility. "So, what do you suggest now that we do?" West asked again. "Kill her?" Dylan asked making me give him death glare simultaneously make Vann step before me in a protecting stance as he warned in a low voice, "don't you dare." I swear, if I lose control and kill anyone, it would be intentionally unintentional Dylan and Orwell to be the first one in the line. "Why? Do you want her to grow strong enough to kill you? It's like feeding a tiger in your house, waiting for it to eat you," Dylan argued. "Dylan has a point," West pointed out from the side making me feel uneasy. "No one will touch her, I swear," Vann pushed me back as he stood guard. "Why don't we have a voting? Majority wins," Dylan offered. "Enough, all of you!" their father shouted stopping the quarrel between the brothers. "No one touches the femme fatale. We don't want to add to our list of enemies over here," another new voice caught our attention that came from behind us. We turned to find a beautiful man who looked no more than in his early thirties with a beautiful bronze hair and dark hazel grey eyes, he was tall and handsome. But the aura and the way he carried himself held elegance that came with time. "Your great grandfather will definitely not like it, if we hurt his descended now, does he?" he asked in a deep manly voice as the unknown man entered the room. "Oh, by the way, nice to meet you, Ms. Femme fatale," he paused a few feet away from me as he said that over his shoulder before he added, "I'm River."
