"Father," Vann warned grabbing my back, preventing me from doing anything that could possibly escalate the situation. "Okay okay," the older man raised his hands in surrender as an amused chuckle left his lips before he continued, "you don't have anything to worry here little girl, since my son has touched you, you are as well as acid to me. I don't want to burn my hand." I looked at him dubiously for all I could see, there were girls around my age in group he had back there. But then he might be telling truth since my accident or caution alarm hadn't gone off. But then again, it hadn't gone off when we were attacked by Amanzi and group. "Don't think too much, listen to him once and then decide what it is about," I looked at Vann as he continued, "if you don't want to do anything with us after that, I will get you out of here. I promise." The sincerity in his eyes calmed my pounding heart. The grey sand storms raged fiercely showing his determination. I hesitantly nodded before letting him lead me towards their awaiting father. The elderly man observed me with curiosity like I was a new specimen that had been discovered. "May I?" He extended his hand asking permission to touch me. Hesitantly, I placed my hand in his extended one. He closed his eyes and concentrated for a second before flashing them open to grab my face and turn it left and right all of a sudden. His actions had me shrieking like a squirrel that was trapped as I tried to push him away but to no avail. "Father, what are you doing?" Vann pushed the man away before standing before me as a shield. "I must be mistaken, it's not possible," their father murmured flustered before talking a little more louder, "let me see her again." Vann stopped him, "no, stop! You are scaring her. What is it that you are looking at her like that for?" His father ignored him and took a sidestep around Vann as he asked rather urgently, "girl, has anything weird been going on recently with you?" I blinked at his question asking, "apart from almost getting killed by your sons' nemesis and the fact that half of you or maybe all of you have these weird powers and all?" "Yeah, excluding those," he nodded his head like he was talking about the environmental issue rather than some weird s**t that could send anyone to a looney bin for only mentioning it out loud. "I had heard from other that she came back from death, literally," Dylan grinned with the look that said I was nothing more than an entertainment to him, like a movie of my little pony to a six-year-old girl. I made a face at him. "What's that for?" he protested apparently getting offended at my expression. "Came back from death?" their father asked giving a suspicious look towards Vann, who looked anywhere but at his father. "And she was keeping up with the speed of a siren chasing after her, when the pacific harmony had attacked us," West added thoughtfully. Their father gave Vann a look that implied something like, 'I'll deal with you after I deal with this.' "I remember her excluding an aura of a siren's when she first came to the school," Kai shrugged before taking out his mobile and start playing another one of his games. Listening to the things pointed out by these guys, I remembered something that had been bugging me for some time now. "In the forest when those strange guys were chasing after me," I spoke softly, yet I was sure that each and every one could hear everything I was saying crystal clearly, I continued, "there I met a man. He looked like he was in his forties." I looked at Vann who was intently looking at me and continued, "he had called me Femme Fatale." I turned to look at their father whose eyes had widened, "no wonder you were showing all the signs of a siren." "Siren? What do you mean by that?" I asked confused. "It might take a lot more time to handle this than I had initially expected," old man grumbled before taking a seat while I waited anxiously for him to answer the questions that had been haunting me at last. "Have you seen little mermaid, girl? You must have, it's such a popular children's fairytale," he started, "you have a mermaid, a creature that is half fish and half girl in appearance, then change it to a boy instead of girl for the human part of this creature and add a few gifts that defied the logic of humans. The so-called beautiful creature that we get from this is a Siren. And a Siren is always and only a male, there has never been a female Siren." As if his words clicked something in my head making my heart pound faster inside my chest, I asked, "you don't mean..." "Yes, that is exactly what I mean. Every single male present in this room is a Siren. That is why you feel the different aura from us than what you feel from the humans." A chuckle slipped through my lips, "you can't be serious." Though there was a part of me that nagged for taking this as a joke after witnessing all those unusual things that these guys were capable of, my mind was having second thoughts. They were never human to begin with... "So, how am I showing the signs of a siren when only males can be sirens?" I asked feeling the dread seep into me. Was I not a human as well? Or even a girl to begin with? "That's the enigma of nature you see," the old man laughed humorlessly causing irritation to creep up along with my impatience. I was having an identity crisis here and this gentleman was enjoying like he's at Opera. Thankfully, he continued with his explanation, "the nature defies all laws and shows you just what it's capable of when you lose faith in it. And presents you up with the creation that is so charming and amazing as well as it's the most potential threat that could pose to your very existence." Now he was just talking in riddles... "An existence that was only supposed to be a myth even to us, a creature that beats all the odds, an anomaly that even we feel threatened with," he voice dropped as his gaze narrowed at me. But that wasn't the sole reason for the nervousness I was feeling and my heart threatening to break out of my ribcage, the things he spoke off was also contributing to it. He took a step forward but this time I didn't flinch away, instead I held my ground as something, some energy came out of me in waves making their father to narrow his eyes further. For the first time I didn't feel threatened while being surrounded by all these supernatural men. For the first time I felt like I had the upper hand on them, like I wasn't human as they claimed. Everyone had their eyes on me, and only me now for I could feel every little movements from their breathing to their eyes shaking and them getting into a defensive position from whatever they were feeling as their father continued in a grim voice, "you, are that being. The mythical female siren. The famme fatale."
