I looked at the fancy mansion dubiously before looking at the guys, waiting for an explanation.
Vann sighed rubbing his face, "it's a long story, I'll tell you some other time."
They opened the door and climbed out almost in a sync. Vann held the door open for me to follow him. I am not a girl who prefers chivalry but looking at him being a gentleman, my stomach was soaring with the butterflies inside.
I muttered a thanks while he just nodded in acknowledgement. I waited for him to lead the way, there is no way I was going to go on my own into that mansion knowing a very particular trait. And at the moment, Vann was like the insurance that I clung onto in the face of danger, a danger to every aspect of my existence.
"I had no idea that you are related to mayor," I muttered underneath my breath.
"We aren't," Vann replied softly making me snap my head in his direction, though I hadn't voiced anything but it was clear even to a dead what my eyes were questioning.
It was silent for some time making me believe that he was ignoring my questioning gaze but that assumption was corrected when he exhaled loudly after saying, "as I mentioned earlier, it's a long story. I'll fill you in on a later date."
I hummed in reply as my focus had shifted to the door that was wide open, waiting to swallow me in whole.
The jittery was the only thing I felt course through me. I was as cautious as a mouse out of it's hole. Especially with the certainty that I had to meet the cat that was lying in wait for me, and might as well have planned to devour me whole.
Even if I were to get abducted here, no one would know and it would have been entirely my fault to enter such a place at my own risk.
I used to reprimand the movie characters for being reckless, yet here I was doing the very same thing. Even venturing the haunted house would be causing much less anxiety than what I was feeling while walking into a castle filled with outer-worldly beauty.
Guess, I really did have a peanut of a brain to have this kind of death wish.
The door opened to the huge living room with white and the hints of wood theme. The modern contemporary architecture design had made it's nest in this place. Cyan couches were laid before a home theatre that occupied a quarter of the wall before them. Not much of the decoratives could be seem around, except for the clay model modelled into an abstract shape of a faceless woman near the couches and an artificial bonsai sitting on the other end of the house. The false ceiling was a decorated one with the latest fancy chandeliers hanging from it.
I followed the TWPs across room, walking past the huge glass walls on the way that opened the view of the pool in the garden that had two more beautiful identical men standing by the water topless and looking outer-worldly, perhaps they were twins. They shivered visibly and uncontrollably before one of them burst into water and fell back into pool. It took me a second to understand what was happening and gasped out in shock, "holy s**t!"
That guy had created a clone out of the water! That freaking guy created a clone out of the water! Either the aliens had invaded the earth or I had lost my mind after dying!
Looking over at his shoulder to find me frozen in my steps, Vann came back put his hand around my waist and dragged me towards wherever he was leading me while my eyes still stared towards the guy who was standing by the pool, who now was smirking in my direction.
"Ignore him," Vann muttered under his breath as we entered another room that had an entire wall of books and vinyl records. A vintage gramophone stood majestically on a stand by the window. A mahogany study desk sat at the other end of the room with a black metal french window opening to a small private indoor garden.
The air of the room would have been more of a study room if there wasn't a man in his late forties with two girls sitting on his lap and two more sitting by his feet. And that was not all, there were three more standing around the single seater he was sitting in by the fireplace on the opposite side of the study desk.
My breath hitched looking at the glassy eyes of the ladies surrounding him. My feet refused to move any further away from the threshold of the door.
The fight or flight instincts was threatening to kick. Any warning sign come my way, and I wouldn't think twice before turning on my heels and run till I reach my home without stopping for a second.
"Haha, my sons are here," their father surrounded by his harem, spoke in a husky voice. Goosebumps rose on my entire body, and mind when I tell that they weren't there for being pleasant but because of the creepiness. Even with the fact that the women around his age would swoon and drool at his looks.
I had no intention of joining that harem of his. No sir.
As if being called his eyes landed on me, in anticipation. He pushed the ladies from his lap aside and stood up before carefully walking towards me like he was observing a specimen in a lab.
And that was very much enough for me to look around for all the options open for me to make a run for. Vann who was still beside me rubbed my back trying to calm me down.
"Relax, little girl, I will not eat you," their father said with a chuckle before adding with an evil smile, "at least not yet."
That only intensified the stiffness in my posture. I swear I going to crack those nuts of his if he tried anything!
