17. My brain might have gone all cotton instead of braincells

"What!?!" Vann exclaimed stepping intimidatingly towards West before continuing in a threatening yet calm voice that somehow sounded like a growl too, "why does father wants to meet her?" West remained calm and collected as he replied, "you don't have to be so defensive. He's our father, you should trust him a bit more." "Yeah, even if he hypnotizes women and has a harem of them for himself," Kai shrugged while concentrating over the game in his phone. I watched others cringe at his words only for the dept of his words to sink in. He wasn't joking! He freaking definitely wasn't joking! And that realization was all it took for me to feel the panic set in. A psycho pervert, who was of the age of my father, hypnotizes women and has a harem, wanted to meet ME! "Why?" I cried with all the worst case scenario passing through my head. I definitely didn't want to become their step mother!!! Fear and disgust was evident on my face. At the moment I might even be looking like a monkey speaking gibberish and bouncing around in my spot. My breathing ragged as my lungs felt incapable to take in air. I might as well be having my non-existent asthama attack or even lungs collapse. "Snow, Snow," Vann grabbed my shoulder and shook me till I was calmed down enough to stay put and look at him. Our energies hummed in sync making me feel like I hadn't been in the almost panic attack just a few minutes ago. "I will not let him do anything to you," the words that came out from Vann's mouth sounded more like a promise. "Oh god, we have another Rio now," Dylan rolled his eyes making West to clear his throat and correct him, "Romeo." "Whatever," Dylan shrugged while Vann protested not looking away from me, "I'm not." "I didn't imply it's you either," Dylan shrugged nonchalantly again and turned around announcing, "let's get going. That old man is quite impatient one." "He's right for once," West also had turned to follow Dylan wherever he was going and paused just to add over his shoulder, "if we don't take her there, there is a good possibility that he will come here." West and Dylan headed towards the main door, Kai followed after them. Vann clenched his teeth before exhaling. He grabbed my elbow begrudgingly and dragged me along with him after his friends or perhaps his brothers from what I could make out from their previous conversation. I know I should have been screaming and shouting and kicking to set myself free off his grip and run to the other corner of the school to prevent myself from possibly getting hypnotized and joining the harem of ladies of their father but my mind was frozen and blank and a part of me trusted Vann more than my own sanity and rationality. I just let him drag me, like a child dragging a stuff toy behind him. Well, my brain might have gone all cotton instead of braincells in my head. We were out of the exit, and down the stairs while I was almost tripping and struggling to keep up with his stupid long legs, his grip over me saved my ass from kissing and dragging over the ground every few seconds. And before I could comprehend what was happening, I was abruptly pushed inside their luxury-out-of-magazine jeep that smelled like leather and the some expensive air freshner that smelled like lime, salt and sea. As if the smell of sea wasn't enough in the air around here. I blinked around like I have a tic only to realize that I was sandwiched between West and Vann. Automatically I scooted further away from West, unintentionally almost merging into Vann. And when the electricity passed through my entire being, I whipped my head in his direction to see his mesmerizing grey eyes elongate like a feline's while he stared at me. The chill that passed through me, I once again unintentionally scooted away from Vann to end up in a curl in the middle of the seat. Though, it wasn't exactly a center but somewhere closer to Vann than West. What? I didn't trust West yet! They were all some superhumans, I doubt if they were even humans to begin with. Whatever the books and movies showed about supernatural felt like bullshit at the moment. Which creatures were this vivid and alluring? I don't even want to start with Vampires. These beings didn't turn into ashes or sparkle in the day light. And their fathers have harems of women! Which century were they living in? Fifteenth? "I'm going to go crazy like this..." I muttered to myself shaking my head. I wrapped my arms tightly around my school bag like it was some bulletproof shield when I felt all the other eyes over me but they looked away when I asked rather defensively, "what?" It was as if their eyes said, 'aren't you one already?' The ride should have been a short one in this small town but with all the worries, thoughts and fears I was having at the moment, it seemed to never end. I tried to create escape plans in my head in case things went south. I still had my bag with me and it had the pepper spray that my dad particularly commissioned to be parcelled half way across the country. It looks like, it's finally time to make some good use of it. "Can you stop glaring like that at the rearview mirror, woman? It feels like you are planning to jump from your seat and gouge my eyes out any moment now," Dylan exclaimed in a freaked out voice. "It gives you the creeps," he shuddered visible to imply the impact and it only widened my eyes, horrified. Were my thoughts that evident on my face? The other three guys in the car had burst into laughter. It didn't matter to them how embarrassing the situation had been to me, it was more like a hilarious scene of a movie for them. The car finally came to a halt and I nervously peeked out of the window to look at substantial sized mansion standing magnificently in all it's pride making my jaw drop open in shock. And the only thing I could muster was, "you live in the Mayor's house?" What the hell? Who were these people actually?
