Chapter 5

850 Words
I stood beside the door to the train as the Capitol slid into view. I looked around and smiled as Jackson grabbed my waist and pulled me to his chest. He kissed me and then we waited patiently for the train to stop. We ignored the news people and adoring citizens as we were in a hurry to get to Finnicks. The wedding started in less than an hour. The moment the car door closed we sped of weaving in and out of traffic. In less than ten minutes we were being hurried into Finnicks house to the guest room where we were being dressed. I stood for fifteen minutes while Cinna dressed me in my wedding dress and getting me ready. After he was finished he gave Jackson his suit to get ready and then moved to fix my hair and makeup which like always consisted of lip stick and finger nail polish. Jackson was ushered out to his spot at the altar in the flower garden while Cinna finished with me. After he finished he had me wait while he went and changed into his tuxedo. I was surprised to see him when he came back, he looked handsome. His white tux made his dark skin glow. He even changed his gold eyeliner to a silver shade. "Are you ready?" He asked me. I looked at him confused. Of course I wasn't ready but I had to fake it. Then he held out his hand towards me with a smile on his face. "I'm your substitute father, I hope you don't mind." "Substitute father?" I repeated. Cinna nodded his head. "I'll be walking you down the isle and giving you away." He explained. I looked at him and did my best not to let my emotions get to me because I didn't want to cry. I took two steps and wrapped my arms around him breathingly deeply as I held back my tears. "Thank you Cinna." He kissed my on the cheek and then took my hand as we made our way to the back doors where the walk would begin. We stood there and waited for the music to begin. I took advantage of this time to gaze around the yard. It was simple but reminded me of the meadow behind the Victor's Village in District 12. All around to the left and right were CallaRose's just this detail alone made me smile as I remembered my life and my family, the way things were before the Games complicated it. The isle looked like a clear river I could even see fish swimming around. How cute. Suddenly Cinna squeezed my hand lightly and he nodded towards the yard. I guess it was our turn. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath before I opened them again and took a step forward. Cinna stopped me before I got out too far for anyone to see and smiled. What was he smiling about? He rose his hand and touched the spot where my dimples showed whenever I smiled. "Look happy and in love." He said before he touched my nose. Oh yeah I remember I need to make everyone believe my love was true. I nodded my head and smiled before I looked at Cinna. He gave me a brief thumbs up which meant it was a good smile. Then we started walking. I had to work my hardest to keep my eyes on Jackson because the river under my feet was breathtaking. I was literally walking on water. As I made eye contact with Jackson his face broke into a massive pleased smile. He was even blushing a bit. I giggled lightly and I picked up my pace a bit. Finally I was at the altar. Cinna took my hands and placed them in Jacksons and took his seat. I made a quick look around at the attendes and wasn't surprised when I didn't see my parents. I then gave my attention back to Jackson who began the vows. After he was finished I gave mine which was written by Cinna himself and then we kissed. I was married. Normally every girl couldn't wait to be married but me I wished I could go so far back in time that I was too young to even think about a man in a husband like manner. All I could hope was to make the party last as long as possible just to avoid the inevitable honeymoon that was to come. Beside's getting intimate what did people do on a honeymoon. In the distance I heard people clapping and cheering and then I realized I was still liplocked with Jackson. I slowly pulled away and we gazed into each others eyes for a few seconds and then turned to face the crowd. Cinna was one of the first to be at my side he pulled me into his arms and kissed me gently on the forehead. "Your parent's wanted to be here even under these circumstances" He whispered in my ear before he turned and shook Jacksons hand.
