Thane's P.O.V
"Sir, breakfast is ready." One of the caretakers informs me and I head to the dining area, dishing up I take a seat and go over some of the business proposals I have lining up.
"I'll have whatever NiNi's having Olga." I hear Willow's voice then she pulls a chair next to me, I glare at her and she sighs, moving a seat over. Eating I feel her eyes on me.
"I can feel you staring Willow."
"You've changed." She states.
"That's obvious."
"No I mean, your personality, it's still the same just ..." She hums contemplating on what word to use then finds it. "More polished. Before, when we were younger, I think everyone just mistook you for a cold child but I think now they see that it really is just who you are. You don't show much emotion or like being shown emotion but then again you don't need a lot to express yourself." When I was younger Willow was one of the few people, and I do mean few, who I couldn't push away with my misunderstood personality. No matter how mean, impolite, cranky or cold I was to her she never turned her back on me and I've always appreciated her taking the time to understand me. I respect loyalty.
"Finish your food Willow."
"Yes daddy." She teases and I smirk. Right after breakfast I see Ross, another missionary, making his way to us with a serious look on his face. It must be time.
"Thanatos." He says and I nod getting up. Willow makes a sad face.
"I know." I follow him to the elders' throne room and when we get there he knocks and we hear an 'enter' before entering. Walking in, the first thing I see across the large room is a long, straight white table and behind it, 11 red velvet chairs where all the elders are seated. The room is pained with a crème white colour just like the table, the only things that add colour to it are the blood red chairs and the colourful painting of angels on the ceiling. I bow my head when I stand in front of them. "Elders."
"Do you know why you are here Thanatos?" Elder Dominique questions and I nod.
"Yes, I have been summoned by the elders to answer for my crime of breaking the peace treaty by killing Mikel Lopez." They nod in acknowledgment.
"Bring him in Ross." Opening the doors I start hearing footsteps but don't turn back, I only turn when he's standing next to me.
"Thanatos."
"Adrian."
"Thank you for joining us Adrian." Elder Mateo says before clearing his throat. "The reason why you have been summoned here today is because it has recently been made aware that the boy, who was killed by Thanatos, Mikel was under your pack. Is this correct?"
"Yes elder it is correct."
"By who's authority?"
"Under my fathers authority elder."
"And why were we not made aware of this? The Lopez family was banished from the Moundrin pack yet your father shielded them from being rogues, without our knowledge." About to respond elder Mark interrupts.
"Does it really matter how they joined the Shadow Rock pack? Is the reason for this summon not to hold the Jacobs twins accountable for their actions?" He spits out and I release a low growl staring him down. My father told me about him, I don't care about his personal vendetta against our father but over my dead body will he stand in my way of protecting my brother.
"Thanatos." Elder Levi warns and I simmer down. "Mark, control yourself." He says irritated. I see him smirk and my eye twitches. "Thanatos tell us what happened." Nodding I start telling them everything that took place leading up to the kill, putting all my cards on the table the only detail I keep hidden is that I planned to take on Mike because I knew if Ares had this would have been a bigger issue.
"There was no need for you to kill the boy." I grit my teeth.
"He knew what he was getting himself into, he came onto our territory, threatened my people and would not yield to me. How far did you want me to let him get before you could step in and say enough is enough?"
"He's disrespecting us!" Lex's voice echoes in my head. I push him back.
"Do not take that tone with me boy." He commands. "You killed that boy in cold blood! Didn't you?"
"Of course not!"
"You and your brother planned this."
"No."
"Because you wanted to prove that no one crosses the Jacobs twins, to show your power."
"No."
"Arrogant, just like your father." He spits out.
"No." I say through gritted teeth. Stop, stop, stop.
"Mark that is enough!" Elder Dominique commands and he smirks looking at me.
"Maybe we should summon your brother here and let him pay for your crime as well." Before I can even control myself I'm already in front of him, grabbing him by the throat I roughly pull him to me as I growl in his scared looking face.
"It will rain over in hell before that happens." His eyes shake as they stare into mine.
"Thanatos! Don't do it." Elder Levi protests.
"Let me at him." Lex is scratching to come out, like a beast in a cage wanting to be free. Feeling a hand on my shoulder I quickly turn to whoever is touching me, growling, only to see that it's Adrian.
"This isn't you Thane, don't give him what he wants. He wants to show people that you're an untameable beast but that's not true. Because my friend does not kill without reason." Gathering whatever strength I have I reluctantly let him go, stepping back.
"I apologise elders." I say bowing.
"No, allow us to apologise Thanatos, elder Mark was out of hand." After hearing my side of the story, Adrian's side of the story and a couple of witnesses that were called forward the elders dismiss the meeting. Heading to my room I take a quick shower, change into my sweats and lay in bed. My phone rings, it's Ares.
Ares: I heard you were needed in Alaska, what's the issue?
Thane: Nothing I can't handle, how are things at home?
Ares: Fine. Thane ...
Thane: What is it?
Ares: Just take care of yourself.
Thane: You too.
Hanging up I sigh. The elders will probably come to a decision by tomorrow, I wonder what my punishment will be. As the day drags on I decide to go to the training grounds to blow off some steam.
"What do you expect me to do?! The boy played it out perfectly." I hear someone speaking. "I tried to turn it around but the other elders took his side, Adrian didn't help the situation either." Is that elder Mark? "Don't worry, the night is still young." Hanging up the call I hear his footsteps approaching the door and I stand in plain sight. When he opens the door his eyes widen. He doesn't say anything and just walks past me then stops, turning around as I enter the room he just left. "This is far from over." Is that a threat?
"For once we actually agree on something."
"You know, it's against the law to kill an elder." He says smiling. Walking up to him I stare him down and he takes a step back.
"It's a good thing I'm not afraid to die." And his smile drops. "I don't give a damn who you are, if you cross me, I WILL eliminate you."
