CHAPTER 39 The Twins

Doctor Michael was just at the NICU's window while looking at their fragile newborn twins. He can't help but wipe off the tears from his eyes. He's been exhausted already for the past few days.

Marnie wasn't awakened yet. She's in a state of coma after her complicated and major surgery. Doctor Michael tried his best to save and revive his beloved wife.

Marnie had undergone an emergency cesarean operation and another exploratory surgery at the same time. Doctor Michael restored the raptured colon of Marnie.

It broke his heart as memories of the last come passing through his mind. He saved Marnie last three years ago when she almost lost her life from her major surgery due to a vehicular accident. This time, he saved her once again and not only his beloved wife but also their innocent tiny twins who were still striving to survive now as they were both prematurely born via emergency cesarian operation.

As Doctor Michael was looking at his newborn twins, he smiled and said," Welcome to our world, my awesome boys. Please get well. We are waiting for you two to be carried. Praying for your health and for your Mom to wake up already. We love you, sons."

The twins seemed to hear what their father had said, they both smiled at him. Doctor Michael requested the nurse if he can touch his twins. The nurse nodded and allowed him to enter the NICU. Doctor Michael put his hand inside the incubator and the twins one by one hold his finger. This gesture from his twins made Doctor Co cry. The touch of their tiny fingers and the scent of his newborn twins made him gain more strength.

"Thank you, my children. You are lifting Daddy. I'm a bit frustrated and depressed because of your mother's situation too," he was talking to his children.

He stayed there for 10 minutes more. Just talking to his children. The twins seemed to feel the presence of one of their parents. They were so lively too. The viewing ended the schedule already, After two hours, Marnie's family can view them already.

"Bye for now my twins. Rest well and be healthy. I love you both," Doctor Michael waved goodbye to his twins. He felt uplifted now that he had touched the two important parts of his heart, his twins. He was so happy and dropped by his private office to check the hospital's administrative reports for a while.

He will be taking a short nap later to regain his strength.

Marnie's family were all resting in the VIP room already. They were all praying for Marnie's fast recovery after learning that she was still in a state of coma. Mr. Castello can't help but cry.

"My poor princess. Her body suffered a lot already," he pitied his daughter. She was still young and yet her body seemed to suffer a lot already.

Mrs. Castello hugged her husband. Marnie is her favorite child since she was their only Princess. Her Daddy spoiled her. She knew how hard it was for her husband to see their daughter lying on a hospital bed with so many tubes inserted into her body. Almost three years ago, her husband almost gave up when Marnie almost lost her life then. Now she's still struggling for her life and her husband as well as her being Marnie's mother can't help but cry. It is as though their daughter's life was a; ways at risk.

Thinking about this, Mrs. Castello sobs and almost faints. Marnie's elder brothers used to visit their pre-mature nephews in NICU. They prayed so hard for Marnie's condition to see how happy their little sister was carrying her twins. They love Marnie so much.

They used to visit Marnie alternately inside the Intensive Care Unit since there was a scheduled time already and they were allowed one at a time at a maximum of 10 minutes per visit only.

Being the only lady sibling they had, they wanted to take all the pains their little sister is suffering right now. Why is it that she's so fragile? She's still young and yet her mortal body suffered so much. The siblings asked one another.

It broke their hearts to see their little sister lying on top of a hospital bed. Seeing how tiny their nephews were struggling for their lives as well. They appreciate the strength and kindness of their brother-in-law Doctor Michael for standing still for his family.

A few hours later, the elder Co couples came in and visited Marnie and the newborn twins.

Doctor Michael was still sleeping when his parents knocks on the door.

Knock! Knock!

Doctor Michael, woke up and opened the door. His parents hugged him and gave him some food.

He felt that he is starving already. He forgot to eat after Marnie's procedure.

"How are you son?" the elder Co asked Doctor Co.

"I'm just a bit exhausted. Have you seen the twins already? They were at NICU," he said while starting to eat the food his mother prepared for him. He is so hungry.

Mrs. Co watched her son.

"Yup, we've seen them. They were still inside the incubator. What happened? How did she get into an accident inside your home?" the elder Mr. Co asked him.

"It wasn't totally clear to me. When I came inside our house, I saw Marnie laying on the floor already and bleeding. She has fainted already," he said.

The twins on the other hand were both reacting positively to their medicines. After 48 hours inside the incubator, they can now alternately be transferred to a regular nursery crib.

"She might slip off on your floor," Mrs. Co said." Your kitchenYourooring sometimes was so dangerous especially if it was swift already."

Doctor Michael froze. His mother was saying the truth. There were times that he was sliding on their kitchen flooring. He decided to change their flooring then before Marnie and the newborn twins came home.

He will rather make it matte and covered with carpet already.

He won't allow something to happen again.

He continues eating his meals while having a conversation with his parents.

He will visit his beloved wife later and monitor her vital signs.
