Marnie had undergone a very complicated and delicate surgery ever. Having an emergency CS operation and colectomy, it's removal and replacement of a portion and replacement of a colon from the human body.
It almost took Marnie's life since this was the second procedure in her colon within three years after the major vehicular accident.
She underwent a major surgery through the hands of her beloved husband Doctor Michael Co, who had encountered the most difficult and emotionally surgical procedure ever in his life also.
Having his twins and his beloved wife at the same time.
" You have to survive my dear wife. Please fight for your life. Our babies need you. I need you. We need you!" Doctor Michael exclaimed again and again while doing his surgical procedure on Marnie. "Please fight for your life."
He was so frightened every time he saw that the oxygen level of Marnie is dropping down. His surgical team was all busy reviving her and monitoring other vital signs aside from her oxygen level. Her heart rate is dropping down as well.
It's a big challenge for Dr. Michael to do this procedure for his beloved wife.
"Checked the heart rate! Scalpel!" non-stop instructions and commands coming from Dr. Michael and all his medical team were all attentive and cooperative. They need to be at phase at Marnie was really in critical condition.
"Honey, you must survive," he said while continuously doing the procedure together with his team. He doesn't mind anybody anymore while saying these words to Marnie. "I love you so much, honey. Please fight for your life. I and our babies were waiting for you okay," he said.
Another medical staff was starting to wipe off their tears as they knew how hard it was for Doctor Co to conduct this procedure when his heart was almost torn into pieces every time Madam Marnie turned 50/50. They were all praying together with Doctor Michael.
Suddenly Marnie's heart stops pumping and the monitor shows a flat line.
"Doctor Michael," one of the nurses called his name.
Beeeeppppp! A long sound was heard indicating that the patient was clinically dead.
"Nooooo!" Doctor Michael stopped his ongoing surgical procedure now and immediately instructed his medical team.
"CPR. She's having a cardiac arrest," he yelled.
He conducted CPR, again and again until Marnie's heart pumps again.
"Continue monitoring her heart rate," he said. His tears were now mixing with his sweats.
Doctor Michael and the medical team continued their surgical procedure as delicate and gentle as they could. They were worried that Marnie's oxygen level and heart rate dropped down once again.
After almost 48 hours of surgical procedure, it was the longest surgical procedure ever done by Dr. Michael and his medical team in their entire lives. Marnie was now done with her intraoperative phase. Dr. Michael was now relieved. He asked the medical team to prepare a recovery room for Marnie. She was still under observation. They will still wait for her to be conscious and awake after her thorough and complicated surgical procedure.
He met his parents-in-law and brothers-in-law outside the operating room. They kept on waiting for Marnie's status after her thorough surgery.
"Hi, Michael. How's our daughter?" Mr. Castello asked him with full of concern. He looked so exhausted as well. He hadn't slept yet as well as Mrs. Castello.
"She's okay now. But we will still wait for her to be awake first," he said.
"I prayed a lot for my daughter. Are the twins okay too," Mrs. Castello asked him.
"I'll check the twins later Mom. I'll arrange a VIP room for Marnie so that you can have your rest first. She will stay at the recovery room first until she wakes up," Doctor Michael told his in-laws. He is so exhausted as well and he wanted to rest but thinking of his newborn twins' conditions, he will drop by at the Nursery Intensive Care Unit (NICU) first.
"I'll go ahead Mom and Dad," Doctor Michael left already.
Suddenly his phone vibrates.
He answered the call, "Yes, Mom," he answered his mother's call, Mrs. Co.
"I've been calling you since yesterday but you seemed to be very busy my son," he heard his mother's nagging voice making him feel irritated.
"Mom, Marnie had an accident and I needed to conduct an emergency Caesarian and surgical procedure with her," he said.
"Oh, I'm so sorry son. How is she?" Mrs. Co lay low in her voice. She got worried knowing Marnie is carrying her son's twins.
"She's okay now. We are just waiting for her to be awake," Doctor Michael said. He wanted to check his twins already. He can't sense the sincerity of her Mom's voice since he knew that her mother was against Marnie from the very start.
"Mom, I have to go. I need to check my twins first," he told his mother,
"Hey, how about the twins? Are they okay, they are premature," Mrs. Co's full concern was for her grandchildren.
"We will be there later," she said.
"Alright, Mom. Thanks and keep safe," he said.
Mrs. Co immediately informed her husband about what happened to Marnie. She was worried about the twins since they weren't in full-term yet.
The elder Dr. Co got worried about his daughter-in-law and his premature grandchildren too.
"Alright, I'll just get the car. Let's buy some food along the way," he said.
Mrs. Co immediately fixed herself and the things they will bring. She also brought some clothes for their son. She knew that Michael hadn't prepared anything for himself since he was the one who took Marnie to the hospital.
Marnie was still asleep in the recovery room and the nurse assigned there sensed that there seemed to be something wrong with the patient. She was sleeping long enough beyond the expected hours. She checked her vital signs and called Dr. Co over the intercom. She was worried about the patient's unconsciousness after her surgical procedure. Only doctors can assess her status.
Dr. Michael immediately went to Recovery Room upon getting the nurse's reports. He just checked the status of his twins.
He was so exhausted but he can't rest with this situation. Marnie is not yet waking up. His twins were still in NICU.
He can't help but wipe off his tears. "Marnie you need to wake up please," he said while walking along the hospital's corridor.
Marnie was declared under comatose stage after a thorough analysis of the doctors assisting her together with Doctor Michael.
Doctor Michael needs to place her into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and she was inserted with Nasal Gastrointestinal Tube to support her while she was in a coma.
His heart was almost broken into pieces. His twins need mother's milk as well and Marnie can't produce it. He will ask the assistance of the NICU department to look for the donors of his twins' milk.
