CHAPTER 37 Critical

Since Marnie had a history of Abdominal Surgery before, her emergency caesarian operation caused her under critical condition. Doctor Michael was aware of it since he was her Surgeon when she had her surgery before. If she delivered their twins in full-term, she shouldn't be under critical condition.

Her accident made her lay on top of the operating table now. When she was opened, there were lots of ruptured digestive, internal organs which will be needed to undergo another set of surgery. Doctor Michael decided to handle the critical condition of his beloved wife. He will accompany the OB gyne of his wife during this critical and sensitive surgery of Marnie. He even asked the help of his co-top surgeons to handle the other sensitive surgeries to be done.

He wanted to secure his wife's life.

He sweats a lot when he was doing his surgical procedure for Marnie. Their twins were already put inside the incubator since they were both prematurely delivered via CS Operation. His heart was almost broken seeing his twins inside the incubator with tubes and drips while he is still reviving and doing the most sensitive surgical procedure he had ever done in his entire life.

He needed to be very careful as he will be planting an artificial intestine for his beloved wife to restore her digestive functions.

With the help of his co-surgeons and medical team, they had successfully finished the critical surgery of Marnie.

There were lots of ruptured internal organs been restored and changed to an artificial one to revive her life. She will be rehabilitated for about two to three years more for her complete healing after this sensitive and critical surgery. Marnie should be well taken care of after this procedure.

The procedure lasted for about 24 hours.

Marnie's parents and her two elder brothers were already arrived at the hospital and still waiting for the result of Marnie's surgery.

They visited the newborn twins at the Nursery Intensive Care Unit Room. Marnie's parents can't help but wipe off the tears flowing down from their cheeks as they were looking at the tiny bodies of the twins.

"They were so tiny and fragile," Mrs. Castello said. She wanted to carry the twins but there were lots of tubes inserted in their tiny bodies. Her heartfelt thousands of stabs seeing how the twins were fighting for their lives inside the incubator. It can be seen how they were hardly catching up their breathes with the help of oxygen.

Mr. Castello was so emotional as well looking at his twin grandchildren and thinking of Marnie who is still fighting for her life as well inside the operating room. He knew that Doctor Michael and his medical team will do everything to the best of their knowledge to make Marnie alive and safe. But he knew that only God can save Marnie's life.

"Hon, let's go to the chapel and pray for Marnie and the twin's recovery and healing," Mrs. Castello asked her husband to accompany her inside the hospital's chapel to pray.

Mr. Castello put his arm on his wife's shoulder and they both walk inside the hospital's chapel.

Marnie's two elder brothers were left seeing the twins. They can't help but think of how hard it is for their brother-in-law in this situation of doing the procedure for his wife to survive while their twins were still fighting for their lives inside the incubators. Thinking of three lives to survive all at the same time. They were all under critical condition. They salute their brother-in-law.

" You have to survive my dear wife. Please fight for your life. Our babies need you. I need you. We need you!" Doctor Michael exclaimed while doing his surgical procedure on Marnie.

He was so emotional when he saw that the oxygen level of Marnie is dropping down during his procedure. His surgical team was attentive to his needs and instructions.

There were also other surgeons assisting him as the surgical procedure he is doing is very complicated. His presence of mind has to be intact to perform his procedure accurately.

This is the main reason why the majority of the medical people do not handle the procedure for their loved ones, to avoid emotional stress and attachment to the patients. But Doctor Michael wanted him to save his loved ones, making it too difficult for him to do it.

The initial 24 hours schedule for Marnie's surgery was extended by additional 24 hours more. This is the reconnection of her intestines into the artificial intestine and to check if it will function accordingly.

Sweats and tears were started to come out from Doctor Michael's face and body. His medical team knew the situation well and they salute Doctor Michael for handling this surgery effectively. It was really hard to handle the surgery of the doctor's family but Doctor Michael's passion and professionalism in his job were always present especially at this moment wherein he doesn't want to waste any of his time not to do anything for his beloved wife to survive.

As Marnie's oxygen level slowly dropped off, the medical team were so alert. Doctor Michael continued the procedure once in a while while the other physician is taking care of her oxygen level as it doesn't need to drop down so fast. Marnie will be in a coma if it continues to drop down and the medical team was so varied conscious about it. But doctor Michael needs to continue with the procedure as it doesn't need to prolong and open for a long period. Time was so precious as of the moment.

Everyone is busy with their task with the main goal. Keep Marnie alive and well.

The Catello couple, Marnie's parents, and her siblings continued to pray inside the chapel for Marnie's survival. They knew how delicate and complicated the procedure was being conducted by her husband himself. They prayed for the Lord's miracle hands to touch the hands of Doctor Michael and keep Marnie alive.
