CHAPTER 36 Accident

Marnie was on her 7th month of pregnancy with the twins already. She was about to prepare dinner for her husband, Doctor Michael.
She cooked his favorite menu, calderetang itik. It was a native saucy duck that originated from Binangonan, Rizal.
When she was about to set the dining table, suddenly her slippers slipped on the floor. She tried to hold the table's corner but she has already fallen on the floor.
She felt the pain arise in her womb and she bled a lot. She was so frightened seeing lots of blood flowing down from her inner thighs.
She cried for pain when Doctor Michael came in. He was so shocked seeing his beloved wife fainted and bleeding profusely.
He just got home from his work in the hospital. He was holding two bags of fresh fruits and cow's milk for Marnie when he saw her in this state. He immediately runs after her.
"Honey, hold on," he immediately caught her and brought her in his car. He rushed her to the nearest hospital's emergency room. He almost drove his car at 120 kph.
He had never been frightened all his life and it's only now because of the abortion threat coming to his beloved wife. He knew that she might be under emergency caesarian operation due to her condition now.
He was praying so hard while driving, "Lord, please save my wife and our babies," his tears were flowing down his cheeks while they were heading to the hospital.
Marnie was already unconscious when she was rushed to the hospital's emergency room. She fainted with the severe pain in her womb and when she saw how she bleeds profusely.
The doctor and medical staff immediately attended to Marnie to save her and her twins. She was immediately attended to at the emergency room and cleaned up by the medical team urgently.
She will undergo an emergency cesarean operation to save their lives.
Doctor Michael immediately asked permission from Marnie's attending physician and Ob Gyne that he will volunteer to offer to conduct the procedure for his wife. Though a surgeon shouldn't have conducted the procedure especially a sensitive and delicate surgery to immediate family, Doctor Michael told them that he can handle his wife's case professionally. He wanted to ensure that his wife will be properly attended to and he will be the one to do it.
He was thinking about what exactly happened to his wife when he came. He already saw her almost fainted and bleeding profusely. He also asked his co surgeons to join his team to conduct the procedure for he knew that after the caesarian operation of Marnie, she will still undergo a sensitive and delicate surgery due to her previous surgery which needed to be opened also together with her caesarian surgery. It will take time, a big amount of time for them to restore all the ruptured parts of her internal organs.
This surgery will be a lot difficult than her first surgery since there's already a fetus in her womb, not just one but two. He needed to save three lives all at the same time. The Ob Gyne and her team will take care of giving birth to her via Caesarian operation while Doctor Michael and his team will handle and take care of her major digestive system restoration of ruptured internal organs. It will take long hours to conduct these two procedures.
"God please help me handle this case. Wrap my hands with your almighty hands to save my beloved wife and my two sons," Doctor Michael prayed silently. He knew that he and his medical team can't do this delicate and very sensitive surgery without our Almight Lord.
The medical team prepared all the necessary medical equipment, tools and machines to be used for Marnie's procedures.
Giving birth first for the twins who were both pre matured. Doctor Michael saw the twins after they were both taken off inside Marnie's womb. They were both so tiny and pinkish. The twins were immediately treated and put in Nursery Intensive Care Unit Room. There were some complications as both have weak lungs and are still not in the full term before they came out from their mother's womb.
Tears flowed down from Doctor Michael's eyes when the attending Neonatal Specialists immediately inserted Nasal Gastrointestinal Tube in their nose. He saw how his babies were fighting for their lives and so their mother too.
His heart was broken yet he needed to be strong seeing these three love of his life were fighting for their survival.
"Dr. Co are you alright," one of his co-surgeons from his medical team asked him.
"Yeah. Come on let's continue our procedure. We don't need to run out of time," he said confidently. He needed to be strong.
His medical team salute Dr. Co's passion and dedication to his profession in the midst of fighting for his emotions as well. Other surgeons cannot conduct these procedures if the patients were their family members.
After giving birth to the twins, it's Doctor Michael and his medical team turns now to handle the second procedure for Marnie. Sweats started to pour down from Doctor Michael but he kept on doing the delicate procedure with his beloved wife professionally.
There's no room for mistakes as his patient is not just an ordinary one. His patient in front of him is his life and the mother of his newly born children. He took special care and extra services to revive and let Marnie survive.
He did this to her two years ago and this time three lives were now involved. Seeing his twins a while ago, he knew they were born survivors as to how they were fighting for their lives after coming out from Marnie's womb.
He knew that Marnie is a born survivor as well. She will be alive and they will live a happy family.
With these thoughts, Doctor Michael and his medical team started the second procedure with her already. Seeing the ruptured digestive organs of Marnie shocked Doctor Michael. It will be indeed a thorough procedure to be done as he will be needed to replace artificial colon to her already.
Time passed by and his team was still in the operation room.
