CHAPTER 19 Confession

Marnie finally was allowed by her parents to go back to work as she wanted to work already. She was bored and missed the things she used to do again.
She has resumed work again and she was so grateful to her company for allowing her to take an indefinite leave before.
Dra. Christina Garcia arrived at the hospital's lobby and everybody almost set their eyes with the elegant and beautiful doctor in front of them.
She walked like a ramp model and even with no makeup, she looked like a doll. The hospital staff knew that she was Doctor Michael's fiancee.
Meanwhile, it's Marnie's first day of work after her almost 4 months' leave. She recovered well and she asked her parents to allow her to work already.
Marnie loved her job so much. It was her first job and even if she got into a car accident during her work hours, she never hated her job.
She promised her parents that she will take care of herself twice as she took care of before. Besides Doctor Michael promised her also that he will take care of her. He was her suitor already and she had been thinking of giving him a chance to be her boyfriend already.
After what he did and how he took care of her during her recovery made her love him more. Doctor Michael never failed to make her at ease and comfortable.
As she was about to walk into the hospital's lobby, she overheard the nurse murmurs,"
"Wow, Doctor Michael's fiancee was really beautiful. They were both of beautiful and great genes together."
Marnie was frozen upon hearing it. She walked and she can still be hearing other crowd talking about Doctor Michael's fiancee.
Arthur joined her walk and greeted her, "Hey, welcome back Marnie. We've thought that you've resigned already," he was so happy seeing her. She was a bit thinner now compared to before.
"I'll help you with your things, you were not supposed to carry heavy things right? Are you sure you wanted to come back to work?" Arthur was a bit worried about her. He knew how damaged her body was and it wasn't healed yet since it was just about half a year of recovery only.
Doctor Michael was still at the conference at the other hospital.
Marnie went to Doctor Michael's clinic and his secretary greeted her.
"Good morning Ma'am. How are you? Doctor Michael was still at the conference in Metropolitan Hospital in Sta. Cruz, no advised yet on when he will come over here," she politely informed Marnie.
Arthur was in the other wing of the hospital.
Marnie asked his secretary," Can I ask you something dear?"
"Yes Ma'am," the secretary doesn't know that Marnie was already was Doctor Michael's girlfriend. Though she knew that Doctor Michael liked Marnie a lot.
"Does Doctor Christina Garcia and Doctor Michael engaged?" she asked straight forward from Doctor Michael's secretary.
The secretary can't deny it anymore.
"Yes, Ma'am. They have been engaged since last year but I think it was just arranged by Doctor Michael's mother," she said.
Marnie felt that her heart turned into pieces. After hearing the news from the lobby, it was being confirmed by Doctor Michael's secretary now. She felt betrayed. It was so painful.
She endured the physical pains caused by her vehicular accident and post-operation but this pain now is crushing her heart. She can't help but burst out crying.
The secretary was shocked by Marnie's reaction.
"Why Ma'am. Did I say something wrong? It was already known here in the hospital. You've missed it since you only came back to work now," she said.
"But Ma'am, it was just Doctor Michael's arrangement. The doctor was against it," she said. She knew that somehow there's something else between her Boss and Marnie now.
She felt guilty as she knew her Boss will get mad at her for being so tactless.
Suddenly, Doctor Michael came together with Doctor Garcia in his clinic. He saw Marnie's crying but he needed to talk to Doctor Garcia first.
"Please wait for me here, we will discuss something inside. Let's go, Doctor Garcia," he said to Marnie.
"Alright Honey," Doctor Garcia told him.
Doctor Michael wanted to correct Doctor Garcia's address to him for he knew Marnie will be hurt.
When Doctor Michael's private clinic was sealed, Doctor Garcia locked the knob and Marnie heard it.
She decided to leave his clinic without waiting for him though he asked her to wait for him.
She saw and heard them. Doctor Garcia called him Honey and they even locked the door inside. What would she be thinking then?
"You're such a fool, Marnie," she scolded herself. She was so disappointed with Doctor Michael. She was so hurt.
Other medreps saw her crying outside before when went to the restroom. Other medreps knew how close she was to Doctor Co making some female colleagues envy her.
"We, as if she felt that she will become Doctor Co's girlfriend," she heard someone say when she was inside the cubicle and calming herself.
When she was calm, she went out of the cubicle and washed her face. She decided to go back to their apartment then.
She found Arthur outside of the restroom waiting for her.
"Are you okay?" he asked. He knew how she felt seeing Doctor Michael and Doctora Christina together.
"Do you want to go somewhere? You can count on me okay," he said.
As of the moment, Marnie wanted to talk to someone. She needed to explore her feelings. She was so hurt. She can't help but cry.
Arthur approached her and invited her to his car.
Marnie come with him and she said," Can I tell you something?" she wanted to release her emotions to him.
"Sure. Do you want to go somewhere else? I'll drive," he offered his shoulder for her to cry on.
"Just drive," she said while crying.
Arthur drives and lets her burst out crying inside his car. They had a road trip in Quezon City. He will wait until she told him to stop and start talking to him.
He almost drive the whole Quezon City already when Marnie told him to stop along Quezon City park. She asked him to buy her some street food and they will eat together at the park.
"Okay wait for me here," he said.
He went to food cards inside the park and bought some foods which are still safe for Marnie's health.
"Here," he handed it to Marnie and they both sat on the bermudagrass.
Marnie told her everything while crying.
She even confessed to him that she was already his girlfriend and she was so hurt knowing that he was engaged already.
Arthur somehow knew about it already. The way they talk, look at each other. He already knew it.
"Did you ask him why? Perhaps he has reasons," he said and trying to comfort her.
"It's loud and clear. I've already heard and seen them well," she said.
"Did he call you to explain?" he asked.
"I won't listen to him. I wanted to extend my leave and have a vacation far away," she cried once more.
Arthur doesn't know how to comfort her. He let her cry and talk.
When she got tired she asked Arthur if she can take a nap in his car.
He opened the AC and let her nap inside his car. When she woke up, she will send her to her boarding house already.
After about two hours, Marnie woke up and Arthur send her to her boarding house.
"You take a rest okay. Call me if you need someone to talk to. I am just here," he said before he left.
"Thank you, Arthur. You are such a dear friend," she said then waved goodbye.
As Arthur was driving, his tears fell down his cheeks. He loves Marnie and gave way to Doctor Michael when he saw how he took care of her when Marnie was at the hospital. Now he was hurting for Marnie as she was in total pain because of Doctor Michael.
