CHAPTER 20 Broken Hearted

Marnie was so grateful for confessing to Arthur. Somehow she felt relieved.

She cried it overnight and blocked Doctor Michael's number so that she won't be disturbed. She asked her father that night to fetch her as she wanted to leave their boarding house so that Michael won't find her.

Marnie decided to take a leave and had a vacation at Marinduque, a place where it's not yet saturated with tourists, a place wherein she can heal her broken heart.

When she arrived at the Dalahican Port in Lucena City, she find it quite hard to step on the connecting bridge from the port to the ship where she will be having her cruise trip to Marinduque.

Her father already informed her Aunt Rose, her father's first cousin to take care of her for the time being. Marnie was so hurt upon knowing that Doctor Michael was already engaged with Doctor Cristina. She felt betrayed. She already loves Doctor Michael the first time he helped her on her first day of work when she was just a newbie Professional Medical Representative. Her feelings for Doctor Michael deepens when she had her vehicular accident and he took care of her. He was her boyfriend now and it hurts her knowing that he was already engaged before she had an accident.

She started to wipe off her tears flowing down on her cheeks upon remembering Doctor Michael. She doesn't want to listen to his explanation. She just wanted to leave and heal her broken heart first. She almost felt the knives striking in her heart. She's really in pain. Doctor Michael tried so hard to reach her, but she kept on dropping his calls and she even turned off her iPhone.

Doctor Michael went to her boarding house as soon as he finished doing surgery on his patient. He was so disappointed when Nina told him that she already left an hour ago.

He wanted to drive to Batangas right away when there was an emergency call and he needed to be at the hospital for an emergency. Marnie can't be reached as well. He was so devastated.

He wanted to explain everything to Marnie everything but she wasn't giving him any chances to explain.

He went back to the hospital for an emergency. He was now between his commitment to his professional dn his love affair. 

"Marnie, I hope you can listen to me, please. Where are you?" he sent her this message almost ten times.

He doesn't want to lose her. He loves her so much

He is willing to disobey his mother and even if her mother disgraced him, he will accept it but not lose Marnie. He can't live without her. She was his happiness and his life.

Besides she's still not in perfect health. He wanted to comfort her. He wanted to hug and kiss her.

Marnie was already onboard and was about to leave Dalahican Port. It will take 3 hours of navigation and she took a nap already in her comfortable cubicle. Her navigation was so smooth as if she was being put in a cradle. She falls asleep.

He asked for a new phone from her father so that she still had communication with her family. She Doesn't want to talk to Nina and Arthur too. She just wants to have a peaceful vacation with her Aunt in Marinduque. It wasn't saturated with tourists yet and there were lots of beaches. She will surely forget Doctor Michael when she rested there for about a month or two. It depends on the situation. She's been there when she was young and she loved it there. It was only now again that she will be coming back.

She slept already.

Meanwhile... Doctor Michael was in deep headache as he can't leave the hospital right away. There's not only one emergency at that time as there were vehicular accidents of a bus and truck and he needed to attend to more than 10 emergency patients one at a time. He can't even find time to eat and check his phone.

How he wished that Marnie was still in their home in Batangas as he will drive to Batangas the soonest time possible when he finished all his emergency cases for tonight until tomorrow morning.

After his emergencies, no sleep and no meals yet. He just changed his clothes and started to travel to Batangas. It took him more than 3 hours driving then since it was the weekend already. There were lots of vehicles on the road. Traffic all over the place.

"What the f**k!" he was so mad as everything seemed to be against his will. He wanted to drive as fast as he could but he can't since it's quite heavy traffic. He still can't reach Marnie's phone.

He even asked Arthur but he told him he can't even reach Marnie too. Arthur didn't intend to tell him that Marnie confessed everything to him already.

He will let Doctor Michael finds a solution to what he had done to Marnie. How he wished that Marnie avoid him so that he will be the one to take good care of her. He wanted Marnie to be under his protection and he will never hurt her.

When Doctor Michael reached Marnie's home, Mr. Castello accommodated him. He was not surprised seeing him in front of their house. Marnie told them everything and he is much willing to listen to Doctor Michael's side. Even if Marnie was his daughter, Mr . Castello wanted to be fair. He doesn't want to judge him easily. He needed to listen to both of them and listen from a different point of view of these two lovers.

Doctor Michael almost cried when he learned that Marnie wasn't there. He was more of concern about her health as she was too fragile to be all alone. Mr. Castello admired Doctor's perseverance and dedication to pursue their daughter.

He just gave him some sermons and advice. He gave Marnie's address in Marinduque and told him to take good care of his daughter.

"Marnie was still young and still immature. Please understand and take good care of her," he tapped Doctor Michael's shoulder then.

"Thank you so much, Sir. I love your daughter so much that I won't hurt her that bad. Thanks so much, Sir," he respectfully left Batangas and went back to Quezon City. He will file an emergency leave first to do this work before he booked for Marinduque.

Mr. Castello knew that his daughter and Doctor Michael needed more time to talk. His daughter was still immature and he knew that Doctor Michael can tame and take the best of care for her daughter.
