Chapter 14 The storm slammed into Eagle Cove on Saturday morning. Thankfully it wasn’t a Pineapple Express, like the one that had lashed the coast during Becky’s wedding. Those storms were unrelentingly wet on top of the major wind blasts. Instead, this one was curling up the California coast where all of the worst windstorms came from. The powerful blasts ripped huge waves out of the ocean as it hammered the coast. The drama was incredible, but by some miracle the power lines were holding up and the rain wasn’t heavy enough to drive the tourists away. Instead, they ducked out for a few awestruck minutes watching the thirty- and forty-foot waves crashing down on the closed beaches, then scuttling inside.
