Chapter 7: The Change

1722 Words
Meg I remember being nervous, or at least the feeling of being nervous, but now I felt empty. No. Not empty. Free! I looked at the forest around me, and briefly wondered how I got here, but within seconds I couldn’t even remember what I was thinking. A form appeared in the trees and made it’s way to me. The name Jaden was whispered on the wind, and I felt a familiarity with the man, but couldn’t figure out why. “Hello Meghan.” The man grinned and I grinned back. “Hello, do I know you?” I kept smiling. “Oh no.” The man grimaced. “Here this should fix that memory loss.” He snapped his fingers and the fog cleared. Everything came rushing back to me. “Better?” “Jaden? Where am I?” “You are in the ceremonial field.” Jaden laughed. “What?” “This is where we do ceremonies.” Jaden told me. “Like the one you will be going through tonight.” “Oh.” I shrugged off the feeling of foreboding. “So now what?” I asked. “We wait.” Jaden shrugged. “I am your godly advocate today, the council including Ambrielle should be here soon.” Just as he said that several forms materialized in front of us. I was completely lost on who was who. “This is the original council.” Jaden told me. “Oh.” I squirmed under their gazes. “This is the fourth?” A man asked. He looked like a vampire. Like one of those tv description vampires. “Yes Vladimir.” Jaden nodded. “Meg meet Vladimir of the Vamps, Lorelie of the Fae, Devlyn of the Wolves, and Sorina of the Witches. The original council.” “She wasn’t prepared right.” Vladimir hissed. “I can not continue this.” “And it’s not a full moon.” Added Devlyn. She was pretty woman with long curly hair. The colors were muted here so it was hard to determine if it was dark brown or black. “I concur.” Lorelie nodded. “Tithan will be angry if we do this ritual without the right conditions. Jaden snapped his fingers, and the moon was suddenly full. The council gaped at him, and he glowered back at them. “The moon is full. I will prepare her, and under the order of Tithan this ritual must be done tonight. If you don’t she will not be returned to life.” “We cannot.” Sorina rolled her eyes and looked at Ambrielle. “Right Ambrielle?” “We have no choice but to.” Ambrielle sighed. “But Jaden she is not prepared.” “I said I will-“ Jaden was interrupted by another speaking over him. “No need brother I am here under the order of Clotho.” Justin spoke up. Sorina actually smiled when she saw him, and I realized they could tell Justin and Jaden’s souls apart. “Hello Justin.” “Justin!” Vladimir proclaimed loudly. “Good to see you dear.” Lorelie smiled softly. Devlyn bowed to him, and I was shocked. “Justin.” Ambrielle rolled her eyes but smiled. “Always the dramatic entrance.” “You know it.” He winked. My mouth dropped open. “Thank the Gods.” Jaden mumbled and moved back. “Jaden was supposed to do this, but Clotho and her sisters foresaw these five would cause problems so here I am.” Justin grinned at me. His smile so similar to Dylan’s with the same dimples. Come to think of it they could almost be twins themselves. “Meghan Ohmsford, Do you agree that you are doing this of your own free will?” I wanted to say no, but then Justin wouldn’t come back, and my family could die. “Yes!” My voice rang out over the clearing. “I am doing this of my own free will.” “We all know that’s a lie.” Vladimir hissed, but he didn’t object. “Do you accept the responsibility of becoming a child of the night, and agree to uphold all the laws that come with it?” Justin continued. He looked regal, and the moon seemed to grow brighter. He looked like the king that I hoped he would become. “I do.” I told him. “She’s ready.” Justin told them. “Come kneel in front of me child.” Vladimir. I did as I was told. I shivered as I felt him press his cold fingertips into my forehead. He mumbled in a language I didn’t understand, and as he did the moon got brighter. Minutes that felt like hours, Vladimir announced that it was done. I didn’t feel any different, but I guess I wouldn’t until I woke up. Ambrielle stepped forward and I saw Justin shudder. I opened my mouth to ask them what was wrong, but all that came out was a scream. It felt like the area next to my shoulder blades was being carved open. Tears streamed down my face, and I went to wipe them away, but my hands were in chains. I didn’t even know you could cry as a spirit. Another scream tore from my throat and Justin stepped closer, but Jaden held him back. I don’t know how long it lasted. I think I fainted for a moment. Another thing I didn’t know was possible. When I opened my eyes again Justin was cradling my head and wiping my tears away. “Until next time Justin.” Ambrielle nodded and then she and the others were gone. “It’s okay.” Justin whispered as he brushed hair out of my face. “It’s all over now.” “Can I go home now.” I croaked. “Not yet, but soon.” Justin told me. “Oh.” I whimpered. “Then please tell Dylan I love him and that I will see him soon.” “I won’t be going back yet either.” Justin shakes his head. “I need to train you for few days to use your wings and vamp speed.” “Can’t you do that at home.” “I-“ Justin gulped. “I don’t think so.” “Yes you can.” A female voice answered, and we turned to see Selene. “To much time has passed already go now Meghan.” “What about Justin?” I stood up. “Justin will be along shortly.” Selene smiled. “Go now.” She snapped her fingers, and I sat up with a start. I sucked in air as fast as my lungs would let me. Dylan jumped up from the visitors chair and ran to my side. “Meg baby.” He whimpered as he began to kiss all over my face. I giggled and pulled him to me. As soon as my lips touched his, I felt like I had been starving and before I knew it Dylan was on the bed, and I was straddling him. “Meg stop.” He pushed me away. “You need to feed.” “Feed.” I c****d my head. What did he mean? “Yes feed.” Dylan laughed. “You are a newborn vampire.” “I’m not hungry.” I snapped. “Not for food at least.” I ground my hips into his, and he hissed with pleasure. His eyes darkening with lust. Our clothes disappeared. The euphoria increased as Dylan pushed inside of me, and then I took control. Both of us lost in each other. My mouth felt suddenly full and as I watched Dylan’s neck tilt to the side my mouth watered. “Just a taste.” I thought as I leaned down. Before my teeth connected with his throat my back hit the wall. Clothes cover Dylan and I, and he was staring at the door sheepishly. Niky stood there with her arms folded. “You f*****g idiot.” She snarled at him. “She could have killed you.” “I wasn’t going to hurt him.” I screeched. “He’s my mate.” “Exactly.” Niky snapped. “Which means he will always taste the best to you. Didn’t they teach you anything over there?” “No.” I huffed. “Selene sent me back before Justin could train me.” Niky sighed. My feet gently touched the floor. I watched in fascination as she slit her wrist and offered it to me. “Drink Meg. You will feel better.” “Why can’t I feed from Dylan?” I groaned. “Because you could kill him. Now feed.” She glared and I did as I was told. As her blood touched my tongue it tasted sweet like chocolate, and I greedily drank more. If she tasted this good, then Dylan would be worse. As my thoughts returned to me I realized I was still feeding. I ripped my mouth from her wrist and tripped backward. Niky was pale and shaking, but she didn’t look angry. “I’m so sorry.” I paled at the thought of killing my best friend. “Don’t stress.” Niky laughed. “Now watch.” I watched as Dylan offered her his wrist, and felt a wave a jealousy, but pushed it down. Her fangs appeared and she bit down. Dylan hissed and closed his eyes. Only ten seconds passed before she released his wrist. Swiping her tongue over the wound. It healed before she finished. “When we feed we only take what we need. If we are drinking from the vein. Dylan allowed me to heal with his blood, so I am good as new. We normally drink synthetic blood, but I had this made for you a few days ago.” A bag of blood appeared. I took it and cracked open the IV tube. The first sip was amazing. Even better than Niky’s. It was fruity. Dylan. I looked at him as I drank, and he grinned at me. A flash of light appeared behind me, and I turned to see Justin smiling at us. “Sorry I’m late.”
