The morning dawns bright and cold. I’m outside with Lupus when Ward hunts me down, almost literally based on the way his nose tilts to the air occasionally. Lupus stomps a foreleg, almost impatiently as Ward approaches, and Ward smiles softly. “Easy friend, easy.” Ward murmurs, offering Lupus a hand to examine for treats. “I’m afraid I didn’t bring you anything this morning.” He apologizes and I gape at him. “Have you been fattening my horse with treats?” I demand and Ward throws back his head and laughs, his breath creating soft, curling plumes of steam in the air. He grabs for me and dances his fingers across my stomach. “He wasn't the only one I’ve been fattening.” Ward purrs and I feel my face burn with a blush.
