I walked over to the room next-door. The sight of a man ailing in pain, tossing to and fro, clawed at my heart, so I reached out to lay my hand on him. A few seconds later, he laid still, his eyes closed…..He wasn’t moving. In a panic haste, I staggered back, shaking my head in disbelief, while frantically twisting my hands, as if trying to decipher what was wrong with them. Did I just kill him? But it had worked on Jack. Fear took over. “Doctor, Doctor!” I yelled, causing three doctors to rush to my side. “I-I think… he’s dead.” I pointed as I turned my face away from the body.
