Welcome to the party

1169 Words
I had texted Trevor letting him know I was leaving for the party. He was heading out as well and excited, but Gigi was a different story. She had been lecturing me since Trevor left, “Gigi, I told you it would be fine. Trevor is a kind, caring person...” “Sweetheart, he’s a demon, not a person his kind doesn’t know what caring is.” She interrupts me for the fifteenth time not giving me a reason not to trust him. “For the love of magic Gigi, I have known him for years, and he has helped a lot more than you think.” I gave her a few examples that I realized as we talked about him. He has been at my side and helped me so much. “I trust him,” I stated. She huffs, folding her arms. “Gigi, please give him a chance he isn’t bad. I know he’s a demon, but that doesn’t mean he is evil. If we believe everything we read, then we are evil as well. Things that normal people believe are not always real.” “Honey, I can tell you like him, but you didn’t meet him when I did...” “And you haven’t met him since I have gotten to know him, since I got to this town, and he has really helped me. Please.” She sighs but says nothing. I will have to take it. “Come let’s go, we’ll be late for the party.” She stands and walks to the door without saying anything else. I nod, “I’ll see if Ellie is ready.” I walked to my bathroom where she was packing her makeup. “Ready?” She asks, looking up from her bag. “Yeah.” “I thought Trevor would be here when I arrived, not Gigi. Why is she here?” Ellie whispers as we followed Gigi to Ellie's car. I look towards Gigi, then back at Ellie and shrug, “I’m not completely sure, she doesn’t really ever leave the house.” I whispered back, Ellie's heels clacking against the concrete echo in my ears. I glanced down at them. They flash like static. I blink, and they go back to normal. Internally I sigh. “Does Ellie know?” She whispered in the front seat of my car. Ellie was in the back seat. Her dress was very nice but had been too big for the driver's seat, so she was enjoying the back. I shake my head. “She shouldn’t.” She nodded in approval. I shook my head. I was going to tell her when she got here, but Gigi took all my time. The rest of the ride was silent and short. “Mija vanamos.” Ellie’s mother was standing at the back gate in her beautiful green dress. She was a tan version of Ellie. Years proudly shown on Maria's face as she smiled, she always had a graceful way about her. After Jesus woke up, things got a lot better for them, and she was able to work on her career. She was a painter. Ellie's father had built her a painting studio in their house. It was a small space I have been in there several times. It faces the sunrise with lots of windows. Thanks to that, she had become very inspired and created many masterpieces that she sold for hefty prices. She was really a happy person, no matter how scary she could get. Ellie pats my arm then picks up her speed to go help with whatever it was her mother needed of her. “He did a decent job.” Gigi glanced around the house and backyard. I look as well and see the purple symbols of protection. It is indeed a large space with a lot of strength behind it. “Thank you.” Trevor said behind us. I turned to see him in a tee with a blazer and blue jeans. “What no biker jacket?” Another male voice came from the fence entrance. I smiled at the voice, “Jesus!” I practically shouted and walked over to him and gave him the biggest hug. “Jesus, when did you get so buff?” I asked once he released me. He was a fit person, but when he left for U of M on a football scholarship, I hadn’t the chance to see him in almost two years. He laughs then twirls me around, “And when did you start looking like a grown woman that could rip my heart out, mamacita, te gusta ti buen.” I almost trip at the end, but he had held me in place. I smile, “Thanks.” I flushed. If Trevor got around, he got nothing on Jesus. He was and still is the biggest playboy ever. I laughed a little. He had never treated me like that because I was always like that surprised little sister. To him, nothing about me screamed s*x, but me right now was everything he looked for in a woman, at least with this outfit on I was. “I just bought it. Ellie took me shopping for tonight. I don’t own dresses, much less heels.” He laughs. “It suits you. You look stunning.” “Thanks.” I smiled and gently moved out of his grasp just as Maria came up and smacked him in the head, “Behave before your head gets torn from your shoulders.” Jesus scrunched his eyebrows. “By who? You?” Confusion stirred in his eyes. Maria shakes her head and gestures behind us. I looked at Trevor's face. It was indeed menacing. I laughed and walked towards him, grasping his hand in mine. “Jesus, you remember Trevor we’re dating.” I smiled at him with a broad grin. He looks at Trevor’s face, then mine and laughs again. “When he dumps you, you know where to find me.” He waves and heads to the gate. His mother smacked his head again harder. He glares but shrugs and continues. Maria looks at me and smiles, “That’s wonderful, majita, I’m happy for both of you, blessing for the two of you. Come enjoy.” Her English was broken, but it has become very easy to understand her after all these years. I smiled with a small nod, then we all followed her to the backyard. I tugged on Trevor’s hand when he didn’t move. I glanced his way. He was looking around. “Come, demon, we are safe in the yard. You have strength that is obvious.” Gigi mutters as she passes us, patting his lower back with one hand waving the other around as she continues to mutter some more things lower. I took a quick glance before realizing she was casting away the spirits gathering in the surrounding yard. I breathed in and plastered a smile on my face.
