Chapter 15. Charles defended me?

1301 Words
"So why isn't David answering my phone?" I asked him asking for an explanation that was always running through my mind. Charles stroked my hair gently. He tightened his grip on me, making me feel tight. "Charles you're making me suffocate," I explained to him which was met with a chuckle by him. "You're too small Rosie, so adorable," he said. "So?" I asked again looking at him. Charles looked thoughtful, his breath on my face. We're too close and I don't know why we're this close. "Charles don't get too close, this bed is wide. You're squeezing me with your big body," I grumbled and I pursed my lips forward. He chuckled again. "I don't know why being with you is too cramped and . . . Rosie's suffocation," he explained ambiguously. "I do not understand." Charles smiled. "You don't need to understand, just like this makes me happy," he said. I am confused. "I don't understand more, Charl," I said. Charles rubbed my forehead which was furrowed in confusion. "Don't think about it, you just settle down and be with me, that's enough for me, Rosie." I nodded, even though I still didn't understand what he was saying. My eyes are heavy, I'm sleepy. "I want to sleep, Charl, but you're squeezing me too much," I tell him. Charles finally no longer hugged me but his hands became the base for my head. "Go to sleep dear, have a nice dream," said Charles which I didn't respond to because my sleepiness was more tempting than responding. I closed my eyes. Before the darkness almost engulfed me, I felt my hair being gently stroked, very comfortable as if I was in my childhood home, while my mother stroked my hair lovingly which made me sleep. At least I thank Charles this time because he brought back the feeling I missed from the past. ••• December 1, 2018. I fell silent in his embrace. My path is closed. I can't run from him. It's like a predator in the dark. Maybe my glow will drown out the dark light. I didn't expect much, but I begged the power, that he might receive my light, at least a little. Rosie. I closed my diary that I got from Adam when I found him reading in the castle's library. Diary with star lock. I just stop writing here, I feel that it has expressed my heart. I stood up from my seat in this comfortable place, relieved when I had expressed my heart in this book. Especially with the flower beds of baby breath, it makes me feel at home to sit here for a long time. Immediately I stood up, slightly shaking the back of my dress which was dirty from sitting earlier. I rushed to the castle because it was almost time for breakfast. I walked with a small hum. I passed through the maze but my path stopped because there I saw Jackson sleeping and his face exposed to the sun made him move uncomfortably but did not wake up from his sleep. With a low and minimal sound of steps. I went to his place, then covered his face from the sun with my hand as a shield. Now Jackson looks back to sleep comfortably. He looks cute when he sleeps. I waited and tried to think of a way to make Jackson comfortable without me having to wait for him to wake up. I put my diary next to Jackson's head. I turned my head around, looking for anything I could use to cover Jackson's face with something to keep him out of the hot sun. At the other end, you can see a large taro flower. I just ran and broke the flower one and then went back to Jackson's place. I tried to make the flower stand and plant it in the ground so that Jackson could be protected. Seeing my plan succeed, I smiled happily. I took the diary and was about to stand up but, whether I saw it wrong or it was true, I saw Jackson smiling but after I saw him again Jackson was still sleeping. I shrugged nonchalantly. The most important thing is I have to get home before Charles looks for me and does something like yesterday. I looked at Jackson one more time to make sure he was comfortable or not. I think he's comfortable because he's now snoring softly, making me smile. I immediately returned to the castle, still humming. As I got close to the back terrace of the castle, I saw Danial sipping his coffee with Charles in the refreshing morning forest atmosphere. I approached the two of them and sat in one of the chairs where they were. "Morning Rosie," said Danial warmly. "Morning, Dan!" I replied warmly. "Have you had breakfast, Rosie?" Charles asked me. I shook my head and looked at the croissant in the middle of the table, it looked very tempting. Danial pointed the croissant in front of me "Eat Rosie," he said and I immediately took one of the two that was on the plate. "Chocolate in it!" I am happy, because chocolate is my favorite. "Careful Rosie, you might choke," Charles warned me, making me smile sheepishly. But honestly, this is the best croissant I've ever had. I love the crispy outer skin and full chocolate inside. "Who made a croissant this good?" I asked enthusiastically. Danial looked thoughtful, while Charles sipped his coffee. But in the end Charles answered. "Samantha made it." My eating movements stopped for a moment. Ah! I hated that woman so much because she said David dumped me. I put down half the croissant I hadn't eaten. I lost my mood because this food turned out to be made by Samantha. Charles looked at me in surprise, "Why don't you spend it?" he asked. I shook my head weakly. Let alone to eat it, I just don't want to see the croissant. Daniel looked at me uncomfortably. "I'm sorry for Samantha, Rosie. She's just like that, it's easy to get emotional and say nonsense," Danial explained, pleading with me. I wanted to say it was okay, but before the words left my mouth. Charles had interrupted first. "What is Samantha doing?" asked Charles in a deep, angry voice. Daniel shook his head. "Don't think anything of it Charles, he was just talking nonsense yesterday." Charles crossed his arms. "What did Samantha say?" asked Charles deeply. Daniel just kept his head down. He seemed to love Samantha so as to protect her from Charles' wrath. Means I'm the only one who feels he is special. I thought he was good only to me but I was wrong. "Rosie?" "Huh?" I replied, just woke up from my daydream. "What did Samantha say," Charles repeated. I laughed out loud. "Th.. That, nothing to think about, Charl," I replied nervously. Charles rose from his seat. "Well if you guys don't want to tell me, I'll figure that out myself." Daniel immediately stood up. "What do you mean Charles? Don't be like that," said Danial. "Why? Are you scared?" Charles inquired. "It's nothing," Danial replied quickly which made him even more exposed. "I don't want to know, I'll ask Samantha directly," Charles finished. He just entered the castle and looked for Samantha, while the two of us followed him. "Samantha! Come here!" shouted Charles. "Samantha!" "Yes! I'm coming!" said Samantha in response to Charles' call. Now Samantha was in front of Charles. "What is wrong?" he asked. "What did you say to Rosie yesterday?" asked Charles with a sharp look in his eyes. Samantha's gaze quickly turned to me. "You're complaining, damn woman!" Samantha was mad at me. And I shook my head quickly but... Plak! "Ah!!"
