Chapter 13. Miss David

1415 Words
"Want to eat this?" he asked. I shook my head, this toast with peanut butter has made me full plus orange juice. Now we are having breakfast in the dining room, just the two of us, because the others have finished breakfast first, we are late for breakfast because last night I fell asleep around two in the morning making me wake up late and Charles chose to wait for me to wake up for breakfast. That's because that damn Danial for some reason can be so handsome and bothers my mind. Charles wiped my cheek which I think had peanut butter on it. I didn't really respond to it because it didn't have any romantic effect on me at all. Someone opened the door and made me and Charles look at who came in, it was Danial with his pillow face. Damn it! If only I wasn't chewing my food, my mouth would probably gape at the handsome face that wakes up. Charles clapped twice. "When are you coming home, Danial? After three years, you're only coming home now?" mumbled Charles and immediately stood up and hugged Danial. Danial hugged Charles back, "Just last night, Charl. And look at you, it's only been three years since I left you, you've got a beautiful wife." I blushed, a little. Charles took my hand. "Let's introduce yourself Rosie," Charles begged me. Daniel shook his head. "Actually, we met last night." Charles looked confused, "When?" he asked me with a probing look. I looked down and replied, "while I'm getting a drink," my little great-grandson. "Oh... All right, let's have breakfast with us Daniel," said Charles. "Certain." I who used to eat grubby, now eat gracefully, like a queen who has to maintain her attitude. "Juice again, honey?" Charles asked me. For some reason, Charles used the word love at the end of his words. Not like usual or I'm not used to those words. "Hahaha," Daniel laughed. I looked at him confused. Why does he laugh when no one is joking? Daniel looked back at me. He flashed his witty sweet smile. I replied with a smile too. Damn, that's sweet. Danial broke the gaze first, then he looked at Charles seductively. "Since when did cold Charles start calling out the word 'darling'?" Charles hugged me. "Since she became my wife," he replied. I laughed awkwardly. Why am I stuck in this stupid situation and why would Charles say such stupid things? The door opened again and revealed a beautiful woman, the woman's name was Samantha. His eyes widened as he looked at Daniel. He ran to hug Danial who was not ready for a sudden hug. "When are you coming home Niall?! Why didn't you tell me? Where have you been these three years?" Samantha asked excitedly. "Haha, easy girl. Which one should I answer first?" said Danial calming Samantha. Samantha stopped hugging Danial and sat down next to Danial, opposite Charles. "All!" shrieked Samantha cheerfully. Danial started telling stories and explaining what Samantha wanted to know while joking around. I smiled, seeing them like brothers and sisters. Seeing that, I thought of David, how is he today? I pulled the casual shirt Charles was wearing slowly and looked at him. He returned my gaze. "What is wrong?" he asked and stroked my hair gently. I hesitated to ask, but seeing Danial and Samantha made me miss David even more. "How's David?" I asked, hoping for an answer. Charles looked dreamy, after that he took a flat object in his pocket. Press a few buttons there and the screen shows a call. Charles gave it to me. "Talk to David," he said which made me jump for joy. Without waiting anymore, I immediately grabbed the cellphone and started to put it to my ear. "David!" I shouted that I couldn't hold back. "..." "Hello! David! Are you there?" "..." "David?" "David, are you there? Answer me David! David?" "David?" "Please answer David," she whispered. I don't know why I look like an i***t. "..." I got everyone looking at me. I looked at Charles questioningly, then for some reason my vision blurred and heated up. I covered my face with my hands. So that no one can see me cry. Holding back a sob at the end of the throat is not easy, it hurts. All this as if I had false hope. Too painful. I was happy, though. "Rosie, what's wrong?" someone asked, from the tone of his voice I could tell it was Danial. Quickly, I wiped my tears and looked up, looking at Danial who was already in front of me, kneeling down and gently wiping the remaining tears in my eyes. Charles was gone, he left with his cellphone. I was still holding back tears which resulted in the top of my nose turning red. Samantha, who was previously limited by a large dining table, is now in front of me. His gaze is probing, cynical, and he occasionally grunts loudly. "What's wrong Rosie? Who's David?" asked Daniel again. Hearing David's name, I couldn't hold back my tears and fell again. I wanted to hear David's witty tone though. In fact, wanted to hug him. Daniel held one hand on mine and he used the other to wipe my tears. "David ... sob ... My brother," I answered hoarsely. "Tch, if you miss him that much, why don't you meet him, don't make a drama like this!" Samantha snapped, hurting my heart. "Samantha," Danial warned. Samantha crossed her arms, "That's right, Dramaqueen. Oh! Or maybe your sister doesn't want to see you anymore, you could say you've been dumped." I don't accept. I hastily wiped my tears, then stood up spontaneously. "If David hadn't been held captive by Charles, I would have hugged my brother by now and been at home, not here! And David would never have abandoned me!" I shouted. Samantha's eyes widened in disbelief. "What?" he asked in disbelief. Meanwhile, Danial had a confused look on his face, as if a Charles would not do such a thing. I chose to run out of the dining room and meet Charles who seemed to have just ended a call. "Rosie," he called which I ignored and chose to run without knowing where to go. Finally the place I go is the backyard garden or the back forest, I don't know for sure the backyard of this castle is huge. I walked and kept walking until I found an artificial maze made of trees that were pruned in such a way. I entered the labyrinth and after feeling that no one else would find me, I sat down, began to search for my own world in my mind. From sitting for a long time to lying down. I looked up at the sky that was spread wide in the sky. If I could fly, then I would fly as far around the world as possible. Bringing all the sweet memories and dropping all the bad memories. I want to be as free as I was with David, three months ago. Three months were fine before like this. I just realized what I didn't want before, now is a day that I just realized is fun. Cracks! I immediately got up from my bed after hearing something sound. I looked around, as if someone was approaching. "Hi!" The voice surprised me, really. It was Jackson, the man who gave me a strange look and seemed hostile to Charles. "Why are you here?" he asked very kindly. I smiled awkwardly, "It's okay. Just wanted to," I replied. He took a seat, right next to me. "Beautiful maze isn't it," he said to which I nodded. He lay down like I did before he came. He made strange patterns in the sky with his fingers. "Guess! What am I drawing?" asked Jackson with a childlike look, eh? I followed what he wanted. "Elephant," I answered doubtfully. Jackson shook his head, patting the spot next to him, motioning for me to lie down with him. "This is a picture of a bear," he said, waving his fingers in a pattern in the air with the sky as the base. I'm not sure it's a bear because it looks like an absurd pattern and looks cute. "Hahaha," I laughed as he started to draw another absurd pattern. Jackson suddenly looked at me with a stunned look, then he said, "You're cute when you laugh." "Eh?!"
