It took Ren a while to recover from everything. Once he could move, he slowly stepped back from the door and closed it.
He was still in a daze as he went to the nearer bed and sat. While placing the tray beside him, he stared at his phone.
Rhys had been trying to contact him.
Before Ren knew it, this was the only thought left in his mind. He picked up his phone and switched it on.
Almost as soon as it powered up, it rang, making Ren jump.
Heart racing and breathing hard, he slowly slid the answer button and raised the phone to his ear with a trembling hand.
“Hello…?”
“Ren.”
For a time, this was all that was said. The sound of his name coming from Rhys’ lips was enough to make Ren emotional again.
