DAMIEN’S POV
The fear in Victoria’s eyes was unmistakable, I saw it in her eyes the moment I mentioned that I wanted to see her wolf. She probably knew that a time like this was coming. She wasn’t among humans and hiding her true self wasn’t going to be easy here. It wasn’t going to be as easy as it could have been anywhere else also because we were rogues and we had trained ourselves to be able to identify aloha wolves even without seeing their wolves or even picking their scent. Thu was something that was very good at. It was a skill that I had picked up and perfected over the years.
I already knew that she was an alpha wolf, and I was pretty sure that she knew this. No wolf in the world would ever fail to recognize an alpha wolf. Their scent was nothing like ours, and this was why it was so easy to spot and submit to them. However, Victoria seemed to have done something to hide her true form. I wasn’t sue Weather she had done this in order to fit in or maybe because of what she was running away room. She hadn’t completely been honest with me and no matter how hard she tried to convince me that she had told me everything about herself I still felt there were parts of herself that she was still keeping hidden from me. She could have been doing this because she was afraid of being judged by me of because of the past that she had left behind. She seemed to be afraid that her past would eventually catch up with her and I could see this even though never admitted to it to me. I didn’t believe and neither did anyone else in the entire pack. And the weed thing was that she didn’t seem be bothered by the fact that we all knew she was keeping some things from us. She seemed to not care because she had made up her kind that she wasn’t going to tell anyone anything. Unfortunately no one had even made the effort to befriend her either.
Everyone here already had an idea of who she was, and she was still trying to pretend as if she didn’t know who she was. I felt like she was pretending not to remember because she carried herself as someone who knew who she was. She carried herself as someone else who knew where she was on the food chain and that is why it was so hard to believe that she really didn’t member anything about her life.
I was cautious about her, I felt like there was more to her than met the eye. Something told me that all of my questions would be answered the moment I saw her wolf. I wanted to know why she was here, but she still claimed that she couldn’t remember anything, but I still didn’t believe her. The fact that she didn’t want me to know more about her past made me even more curious, I wanted to see what she was trying so hard to hide. I wondered if she was running away from something and if she was, what was it? It wasn’t like I could just dig I her past and start asking everyone in the wolf kingdom about her without getting killed. She was the only one who could tell me more about herself without me putting myself or my own kingdom at risk.
Another thing that concerned me was the fact that she was my second-chance mate. I was a hybrid wolf and being with an alpha wolf was almost unheard of. My kind was hunted and killed by her kind and yet here she was under my care. We had started our own separate kingdom in an attempt to keep ourselves away and safe from them. She was clearly in the process of the wolf kingdom
The funny thing Is that I had heard that the former king only had a son before his death. All these inconsistencies were the reason why I just wanted this princess to be honest with me.
I could barely sleep at night as I couldn’t wait to finally see what she was trying so hard to hide from me. I wanted to see this wolf that she seemed terrified to show off to me. Maybe if she hadn’t ben trying so hard to hide it from me I wouldn’t have cared about who she truly was and what her wolf was hiding. However, her evasiveness convinced me that they was more lying deeper within her than she cared to admit. And it wasn’t eve like she wasn’t aware of what these deep lying secrets were, if she didn’t really remember or know anything she wouldn’t be guarding these secrets as if her life depended on it.
When morning came around I made sure that I got to the training grounds before she did. I wanted to make sure that I isn’t gibe her a chance to escape or make any excuse. I also didn’t was to be late only to be told that she had already turned and then she would use exhaustion as a reason why she couldn’t Turin front of me. I wanted to see everything for myself.
A few moments later she came and I could see she was nervous. She was probably worried about how I would act seeing that she was an alpha wolf. Maybe she even thought that I would feel like my own position was being threatened but I really couldn’t care less. I just wanted it know exactly what I was dealing with so that I would know how to handle her. If she really had an alpha wolf then I needed to know how and how powerful this wolf was. I needed her to tell me and show me everything.
“Good morning to you too” I said as she walked past me grumpily
“Did I really have to be woken up this early?” she complained and I nodded.
“The early bird catches the worm. And besides, I have always believed that turning first thing in the morning is the best way to start tour day. Try it, you will enjoy it” I said trying to encourage her. I was trying to scare her or be too hard in her before she turned because my worry was all the excuses she could come up with to avoid going through with this.
“I don’t understand why I have to do this, do I have to prove to you that I really am a wolf?” she asked me
“you are missing the whole point, this is not about yoh proving to me that you are a wolf. It’s not that I don’t believe that you are one it’s just that I want to see your wolf so that I can place you here. As you know… well maybe knew and forgot, every wolf has a place in any kingdom. So I cant just randomly place you anywhere and anyhow. If I am not careful with may end up placing you in a position is not fitting for you. You do understand me don’t you” I asked her and she rolled her eyes. This was one of the habits that she had that was know getting on my last nerves because she gave me the impression that she didn’t care about anything that was happening here. She didn’t takes seriously.
“Well I don’t feel like doing it right now” she protested
“and you can’t force me to do anything” she stated and she had a very good point.
“I can’t force you to do it but I can definitely punish you for disobeying me” I said
“I want you to turn right now” I ordered her
“why? What difference will it make? Do you think it will help me remember something?” she asked me and then scoffed “Because I can assure you that it won’t ”
“you know the more you talk the more convinced I get that you are not trying to remember anything. The more you talk the more convinced I am that you are trying to hide something very big from us. All I am trying to do is to find out what it that is so big-“
“Will you just stop digging, there is nothing interesting in my past and I can assure you of that” I said
“Will you just do as you are told, or are you bad at taking instructions? ‘I asked her.
“I want to do as you are saying but my wolf won’t cooperate, she doesn’t like being ordered around,” she said and I smirked.
“I thought you may say that,” I said glancing over at Mira who was ready for action.
“Who is she?” Victoria asked me
“she is your opponent” I stated
“my opp-“She didn’t even get to finish her sentence because Mira landed a quick blow to Victoria’s face and she fell to the ground
“what are you trying to “ Mira kicked her in the stomach before she could finish what she wanted to say or attempt to get up.
“you said your wolf needs inspiration and that is what I am giving to you,” I said nodding at Mira to continue and she did.
It was as if Victoria was refusing to fight Mira because she was just taking the beating and she wasn’t even trying to fight back. What was frustrating me now was the fact that I knew that she could fight and she was choosing not to. I could see by the way she walked and behaved that she was well-trained and yet she was choosing not to engage Mira. I hated the fact that I was doing this to my own mate but I had to get her to tell me the truth one way or the other.
“if you don’t…stop, I will….kill you” Victoria warned Mira and when I looked up at her I realized that her eyes had changed color and were now a shade of blue that almost glowed.
“Less talking…’ Mira said as she tried to kick Victoria again but this time Victoria caught her leg and got up to her feet.
“I told you to stop it” she commanded in a deadly voice that almost made her hard to recognize. There was something about this version of her that commanded respect from all of us.
I wanted to tell Mira to stop but Mira turned into her wolf form instead. She clearly thought that she could take Victoria on in that state and I decided to let it happen. After Mira turned, Victoria also turned into a huge black and white wolf that made Mira almost look like a domesticated dog. Victoria growled as Mira’s wolf sat down
What kind of an alpha wolf was this, Victoria was a female and there was no doubt about that. But her wolf was male, how was this possible? My mind was racing as I tried to make sense of what I was witnessing. I was trying to find reason and find a sensible explanation for this but there was none. Victoria was a female with a male wolf…
